Sorry Frisbee, starting thread today, have to be out of the house all morning. Man, I turned off the game mid-ninth last night, and woke up to find a lot happened after I turned off. Now, what happened wasn't GOOD, but it happened.

I would think Ashby will close tonight if it's a save opportunity.

What if there is a high leverage moment in the fourth inning?

In seriousness, I’m not sure if there is a high leverage situation that Murphy does not immediately link to Aaron Ashby.

Time to return to the profile of run prevention. The lack of offense going back to last week understandably received a lot of attention, but even a moderately acceptable performance from the defense & staff and the last two games are wins. Fortunately the approach that did them well the first ten games seems to be returning--lengthier ABs, getting people on base.

Really at a loss to explain Rengifo. His numbers wouldn't look nearly as putrid had some well-struck balls found holes but he still looks really lost; pressing. I've watched him a number of times with the Angels. Never seen him look this bad at the plate.

Wanted to add a wrinkle to the Pratt versus Ortiz discussion from last night.

Made is 18 years old. He is dominating in AA ball in Biloxi.

I assume he’s been offered or at least his interest has been gauged in signing a Pratt like deal (with different $ and parameters, of course).

Hypothetically … if Made signed a 10 year contract, for example … he’d be up, right? There’d be no service time incentive not to, and you can’t say he’s not already one of our 26 best options.

There is no way you can continue to justify this man playing every day for a competitive baseball team for yet another season. I don’t care if his defense is on par with the prime of Ozzie Smith, which it’s not.

This team blows

At least they're blowing quickly tonight.

If you're going to stink you might as well do it fast.

Mitchell's k-rate has to improve or he's going to be going down the keston Huira road.

20 ks in 40 at bats.

He’s probably the 4th best hitter on this team. If you’re going to complain about hitters I’d start with Ortiz, then Frelick, Rengifo, Hamilton, Perkins and Lockridge (small sample size Matos and Jones). I don’t want to even think about the pitching.
