The last regular the Brewers traded for at the deadline was Eduardo Escobar all the way back in 2021. Arnold hasn’t done it as GM.

Thus I assume this year will be no different and they’ll shop for bullpen arms, and bench players. Maybe a back of the rotation starting pitcher like Montas if they can get one by absorbing payroll on an expiring deal.

Not remotely true. Brewers traded for both Canha and Santana in 2023. They were 3rd and 4th in PA on the team post deadline.

Giants almost definitely will sell. Trying to figure out how to fit Arraez into the lineup or Chapman into the budget. Arraez to 2B and Turang to SS? Bring in Chapman for the year and flip him in the offseason? Both highly unlikely. Thought about Wily for a minute (think they would eat salary) but he has a negative WAR and I don’t think he fits the team anymore (not that desperate for a defensive butcher at SS).

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Both Adames and Chapman have no trade clauses so the Giants would have to get the ok from them first before they can even entertain a trade.  Devers is probably the easier one to trade and he has a bigger contract.

You’re right, although I suppose I should have framed it as the Brewers don’t shop for premium talent, impact players, difference makers, etc. at the deadline, rather they look for role players and  depth pieces.  In fact, both Canha and Santana were approximately league average bats in 2023 depending on the metric you use. Escobar, by contrast, played in the All-Star game in 2021 and was amongst the top 5-6 in homers by MLB 3B when traded.

You’d be wrong again. Eduardo Escobar had a 105 wRC+ and the only reason he made the ASG is because every team is required to have an All Star. Canha had a 104 wRC+ and Santana had a 97 wRC+. These were all the same level hitters.

That’s the thing about metrics. There is one to support any point someone wants to make. Escobar got a multi-year deal  after leaving Milwaukee as a free agent. Santana signed a 1 year deal with Minnesota as camp opened the next season and Canha was traded to Detroit in a salary dump

I know he would never ok the trade but how awesome would a Yeli, Sal, and pitching prospect for Matt Chapman trade be. Again  I am not saying this would happen. Yeli is a great leader but Chapman would fill a huge void and Vaughn could slide into the DH.

When Lara comes up are there any potential contollable relievers that we could swap Sal or Mitchell for? I still like Lockridge as a cheap 4th OF with the lefty heavy OF and Bauers and Yeli as depth.

The Guardians and Jays came to mind as an OF needy usually strong bullpen. I know there are probably at least a few other contenders who could use OF help. Jeff Hoffman could be sweet upside swap if the Jay's eat like half his salary this year and next.
