The Brewers absolutely know what a typical family spends for a game at the ballpark and how often  they go; what a season ticket holder spends; what a private group likely spends; what ages and demographics generate the most revenue  and they’re adjusting their seats accordingly to capture the most revenue.

No, they still VERY much are. They're still more likely to buy a stadium once or twice a year AT the gift shop(Which is huge vs buying it online). They're going to be repeat customers and there are more of them. 

You can both treat them good and give the fans who have a private box or whatever, the appropriate service given how much they spent. 

And by the way, the luxury boxes, I've been lucky enough to sit in them quite a few times... it's really just free beer and that's mostly it. There were brats and nachos there for some, but the seats were the best part. 

Whatever they cost, they weren't worth the price I'm sure. But 245 for seats right behind home? That DEFINITELY seems worth it if you are a big brewers fan. It's a lot of money, I'm not saying I'm going to sign up, but it's 20K for a couple for the half season package. Food, parking, great seats?

You extend Made and Mis and I'll sign up for half a season for 2 seats!
Throw in Turang, I'll go the full season!

Atlanta has a similar thing, but the exclusive club is right there by the seats. Our former vet had those seats and gave my family tickets when the Brewers were in town. It was incredible. Obviously great seats, but the club was incredible. 

Enormous and basically anything you could ever want to eat, and as much as you wanted. We got there early and ate before the game. It remained open during the game, but IIRC, not everything was available. We went back in between innings once or twice.

Right behind the plate won't be $245, probably closer to $500.

$245 is likely the 5th/6th row…and all seats are “behind” the plate as the Truss seats are only between dugouts.

I wonder if Amy moves to above a dugout to continue being front row girl.  Above dugout row 1 is not Truss. Where Bob is sitting now IS in the Truss.

There's a lot of funny here. Amy playing the role of down-and-out working class Milwaukeean who's getting priced out of something is pretty LOL. I don't really feel too bad for her. 

I don't have a big issue with it. I usually sit in mid-range seats, I find most of the seats at AmFam solid, though. The Brewers are a great value for anyone willing to do a few things to save a few bucks. You don't have to buy beer and food, you don't have to buy a jersey, you don't even have to park on site if you don't want to. I can't fault them for doing new things to squeeze out what they can. I don't have any doubts they'll get enough corporate sponsors buying these seats. I think they'll be empty on weekdays, sure, but they'll force these companies to buy packages. 

I only hit a game or two per season anyway.

I'm guessing Bob will end up moving to the other side of the dugout lip in 112 row 1 or a few feet to the right in 111 row 1.

Let's be honest, anyone who is seriously opposed to this is doing so for self-serving reasons (in Amy's case) or has yet to enter the 21st century. The fact that the Brewers have taken this long while literally every other stadium has long had their own exclusive home plate area is just proof that the Brewers are already highly protective of the small market fan experience. 

What it comes down to is they make make way more money auctioning off these seats to businesses than they do the average joe fan. Sucks, but let's not pretend that most fans have access to those seats in the first place. Brewers making more money is better for us who care most about the on-field product anyways. 

Just wait until you see what is in store around the ballpark after next year....If this is a step too far for you.

Yep, wait until they start eliminating parking spots/tailgating to build a huge bar/restaurant/event space. Why let people drink their own beer in the parking lot when you can sell it to them.

I don’t think that’s happening for a long, long time. I really hope not, anyway.

Doing away with something that is a long engrained part of Brewer culture itself, even if it isn’t profitable, is a dangerous step.

They’ll always have tailgating it will just be in a specific area and first come first served. The Packers have eliminated gobs and gobs of parking/tailgating over the last 10-15 years.

the parking lot is never full and I think it's something like 30% of people who attend games actually tailgate.

Aren't they ALL right behind home in that little section? I'd imagine the 500 dollar seats are directly behind home, that first row, but that's really not much... for those type of tickets to a professional sports event.

What's "that much" is obviously relative, but for those seats and the benefits that go with them, I think that's very reasonable.

The Brewers are also building a playground and beer garden outside the stadium that is free to the public on game days.

I think it'll look roughly like this. 375 seats with rows 2-6 where there are rows now. Row 1 will be where there's warning track now. Bumping up against both dugouts.

eta: I think they're replacing 375 seats, there won't be 375 in total because they'll be bigger
