Sun. 6/20: Just Give Mother Nature the Southern League South Division First-Half Title Already

My understanding is that he’s not as bad as Tyler Black was at 3rd base, but he’s also not a good defensive third baseman.

I assume Adams is a strong candidate to be traded, like Jadher Areinamo was last year. We’ve probably learned our lesson after failing to trade Tyler Black at the deadline some years back.

I don’t think we are trading him. Bauers and Vaughn are going to be free agents.

Vaughn still has another year of team control

I see a Luke Adams day like today and I simply think to myself:

"Just imagine if Luke Adams swung the bat more..."

Also, very exciting to see the Frias promotion. Do we have INF candidates to come stateside supporting a Juan Martinez promotion?

As for Adams & 3B (a ship that seems to have sailed), does he still have the issues w/his throws?

21-year old RHP Bishop Letson (16.1 IP, 4 R, 19 Ks in last 3 games) starts for the AA Shuckers, as they seek to earn a 3-1 home series win over Columbus. C Matt Wood enters as the sole lineup addition for Game 2.

I honestly don't know - I used to watch 75-80% of Brewers affiliate games per season. With my deeper commitment to advancing my farming and seed work I probably only see 10-15% of games. He was never a natural at 3B - just a bit awkward and the throws were historically unnecessarily off platform. I see that this season his 3B play has been reduced to 5 G at Nashville. He's played 17 at 1B. The problem is he was injured for half the first half so we don't really know anything other than the plan has clearly been to maximize his abilities at 1B. There is also clearly a dearth of worthy 1B talent on Nashville's roster. Tyler Black has played 8 G at 1B, 20 in LF, and yet he is listed on their roster as a DH.

I personally like dream casting a Brewers future where all three of Luke Adams, Blake Burke, and Andrew Fischer are in the 1B/DH fold. Obviously, Fischer is the best 3B prospect between he and Adams.

AA Biloxi have resumed their suspended home game from Friday against Columbus, tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The teams will play a second game tonight after concluding this initial 7-inning contest.

The Shuckers have a half-game lead over Pensacola for first place in their division, on this the final day of the First Half.

The weather down there has been nuts lately.  Lots of rain and flooding on some streets.  On Thursday we had sunny weather during the first game and then the sky opened up about 3 innings into the second game.  Thankfully, we were in the parking ramp by the time that hit.

Hot and muggy as hell, too.  Every time I left the air-conditioned house, my glasses fogged instntly.

I'm glad to be back in the mild weather now.  I just opened the house up.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

We call that summer down here. 😁

I did not anticipate RHP Manuel Rodriguez surrendering 1 HR/3.72 IP in 2026. If anything, hopefully 2026 is showcasing why he truly needs to keep committing to adding a few ticks in velo. He has a very zesty 0.98 WHIP. A very nice 0.217 BAA. And, yet, he has surrendered 5 more long balls than any other pitcher in the Southern League. Yikes.

Yet the young man can't drink legally in the states until August 8th. Perspective.

I mean I don't know how much more perspective I need here as someone who was touting Manuel very early in his Brewers full-season tenure (you know this). He is where he is based on merit. The feedback is: he is giving up HR's at a higher clip than any pitcher in Double-A. This just is what it is.

Blake Burke season OPS - .856

Dylan O’Rae season OPS - .853

Thrilled to have both in the Brewers system

Such a fabulous bounce back season for O'Rae.

It is truly awesome to see Him bounce back like this in his second healthy opportunity in the Southern League. The signs were definitely there in the AFL performance but you never know how that will translate to full-season ball. Absolutely thrilled for Him!

Biloxi, just wow. The only team in the Brewers' system that even came close to being this much fun to follow has to be the '08 Huntsville group with Escobar, Gamel, LaPorta, Salome, Brantley.

Doing my unscientific thing looking at when a player reaches a full seasons' worth of PAs in his career, Josh Adamczewski is a little above that now. Among other numbers, he's driven in 114 runs while drawing 118 walks. That's just a crazy combination. Not being a huge power guy, how do you even DO that? So impressive.
