Might as well start a new thread to kick of the new era of Buck's Basketball. We exit the Giannis era and enter the "Try a whole bunch of guys and see what sticks" era. AKA - "Only one more year of Kuz" era.

The current depth chart looks like:

Confused Girl GIF

I'd imagine the team is going to still several moves as we have a few vets that other teams might want to poach... or maybe we just run this out and see what happens?

Current roster looks like this:

Our potential list of 2026-27 outcomes is probably pretty varied - bottom 3 to play in tournament? But regardless, it will be on the bottom half of the league.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Bleacher report released power rankings today and had bucks 29 only ahead of the Kings FWIW. I don't think they will be as bad as some think. The roster is no longer top heavy and has much more depth with GA's and Portis's contracts off the books.

Herro is probably gone at some point this week depending on if Detroit still wants Herro.

The problem with that is there is no benefit to the bucks tanking. Now I saw that Detroit may be willing to trade Holland and pieces. I may be interested in that.

EDIT: According to ESPN trade machine, a straight one for one is approved. A pick goes back to Milwaukee with Holland for Herro. Do it Horst.

Something will have to give though. They have 17 under standard contracts and can only carry 15. There are no obvious players to cut as camp fodder. I would think they will stash Lewis, but there is still one that needs to go.

Guards (7)

Brayden Burries, AJ Green, Gary Harris, Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakučionis, Kevin Porter Jr., Ryan Rollins

Forwards (8)

Nate Ament, Ousmane Dieng , Jaime Jacquez Jr., Kyle Kuzma, Malique Lewis, Bogoljub Marković, Taurean Prince, Jericho Sims

Centers (2)
Myles Turne, Kel'el Ware

Two-way contracts

Cormac Ryan, Kam JonesRafael Castro

Liked what I saw in Burries minutes tonight. He's just an all-around very solid basketball player - he'll be a boon in a young rotation. Kam Jones looked inspired and healthy - nice to see! Bogi shows real flashes offensively. Still needs to get stronger. Needs to continue to work that outside shot and work on screens and defensive foot speed. Still see the vision but he's going to be spending lots of time in Oshkosh and that's a good thing for his development. Malique Lewis has real defensive chops but you can see the 60th pick stash reality there. Given those defensive chops, tho, there's a vision there. I do wonder if a Boston Jr. or an Austin aren't stating their cases for an Exhibit 10 contract? Hard to read the tea leaves. Both have flashed.

What do I know, but I fully expect Herro to stay. Hometown kid helps sell tickets (presumably) and is our best shot at being at least a watchable team during a stretch where we won't have a high draft pick. At best maybe he's a deadline pick to New Orleans to get our pick back.

If we trade Herro, I hope it is to Portland or NO to get our picks back.  Kind of a double bonus trade...

With the new lottery rules, I don't know how the bucks first round pick in 2026 is viewed. Before it was changed, I would say that their draft pick is very valuable, but now its less.

Now without Giannis, I really wonder what Turner will look like.  Much like Dame, his playing style did not seem to mesh well with Giannis.

Hopefully he bounces back well and becomes a 2027 trade candidate as he doesn't seem to be a good fit for the Bucks long term.

Man I just got to say I don't think there is a bigger phony in sports than Giannis. Which is so sad when you see the juxtaposition between a cute Greek kid trying a smoothie for the time and where he is now, shilling for every gambling company under the sun.

My bold take is that Myles Turner is gonna be worth a first round pick at least when you see what Walker Kessler just garnered, Stretch 5s are few and far between right now.

And the bucks trade with the pistons… just not the players we were expecting

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/49301232/sources-pistons-trade-levert-bucks-prince-harris

Seems like a win.  I was wondering earlier if we could move Harris and Prince, but then thought... who would want them?  Getting two second-round picks and a roster spot is the real win here.

It was the pistons trying to save some cap space, so its a win basketball wise. This also allows the bucks to get their roster down to 15 assuming that Lewis is stashed. To get 2 2nd round picks is nice, but they are adding salary in this deal.

And they should take on bad contracts if it brings back future assets.  They are below the apron, so they aren't really restricted to do much.  They aren't going to bring in any big FA.  Kuz comes off next year... Sure take on salary.. it isn't my money. 😂

Lavert shouldn’t decent minutes on this team.  I’m not mad that AJ is back either, he had moments learning on the Wiz.

ESPN has Milwaukee getting AJ Johnson from Dallas as part of the deal as well, with 6 total teams involved.

Ohm Youngmisuk needs to learn to write:

Dallas also trades AJ Johnson to Milwaukee and a 2030 conditional first-round pick and a 2029 second-round pick to Memphis.

Now, I assume Memphis is getting the 2030 conditional first-round pick and not Milwaukee, but that is a horrible way to grammar a sentence!

Appears to be an ESPN mistake. AJ Johnson to Memphis instead. also the bucks get their own 2nd round pick back in the 2027 draft and one additional 2027 second round pick.
