Yesterday, I was SAD.  Today I am PO'd.  Who the hell made the decision to mail this game in?   Glad, I can't watch.   Freaking getting swept just before All Star break by the Pirates.   And to those here who think this A-ok, WHATEVER.

Time to give Pancake an extension…

Zerpa sucked when he was healthy. I don’t think this team is missing him a lot.

Given that he got TJ 3 weeks into the season, I think it's safe to assume he was never healthy.

The worst managed series of Murphy’s managerial career.

He looks and acts like he’s pushing 90 years old. The back and hip stuff has taken him out of the game both physically and mentally.  As a result, this team is rudderless right now. And unfortunately, I don’t think a few days off during the break is going to make much difference.

Is this team good enough to “forfeit” a game like today … even this series?

What happened to our “win today” approach?

Why does a 21-year old SS need to rest before a four day break?

This is a terrible way to end a successful first half.

Murphy would be wise to address all his health issues (hip, shoulder, knee, back surgeries), fully recover, & return when he is able to be alert & lead the team. He’s not being brave … rather he’s being foolish & is hurting the team. Everyone is replaceable - including Murphy. I’m confident in one of our coaches to step in should he take a leave of absence.

He might be afraid that we’ll play better with Weeks leading the team.

Why do you keep bringing up Weeks? He's not even in the organization anymore is he?

I would stop watching if Weeks takes his place

Dino Ebel is the next manager of the team when Murph calls it quits. Not an inspiring series from him but also have to take into account the marathon the last 17 games were. The injuries are what concerns me.

I'm miffed, too.  This reminds me of how they looked against the Dodgers in the NLCS last year.  Yes, the difference between the Dodgers and the Pirates is... well... there isn't a difference.  LOL.  The Dodgers are just the best.

They worked hard to get this lead.  I think there is some frustration in the clubhouse because of injuries, poor decisions, etc.  The team needs a mental break.  I'm don't agree with cashing it in this weekend (one of the games for sure, or two could have been a win, though).

They had better come back next week and kick some back sides.

Murphy's back and hip, too 😉

Let’s go ahead and stop pretending that it was a really big addition to get Jared Koenig back from injury.

Anybody who watched him pitch and was being honest about it knew he wasn't.  When they were saying oh he's low 90s in Nashville all I was thinking is that's not going to get it done in the majors and that is clearly the case.

We only gave up 15 runs in 4 games against the Dodgers in the NLCS last year.

Brewers: “it’s going to be hard to get Lara up here when we don’t know how to get him the at-bats right now”

Also Brewers: (keeps Christian Yelich in the game trailing 14-2 in the 8th inning)

Yelich out

5 straight reach base

Frelick out

So on brand

Going to be another 1 for 4/5 day for Yeli.

Bad by any realistic measurement for a leadoff hitter, and just barely good enough for Murph to think a turnaround is coming and pencil in at the top the first game coming out of the break.

Quick look. For the final 3 games leading up to all star break, we had 2 winning series in the past 5 years, and 2 sweeps against

2021: 0-3 v Cincinnati

2022: 0-3 v San Francisco

2023: 2-1 v Cincinnati

2024: 1-2 v Washington

and then the real highlight last year 2025 sweep of nationals

2026: 0-3 v Pirates

so it does seem like a mostly annual trend. Yikes. Can we just skip the weekend before the ASG

I amused myself by looking through some other seasons for All Star break swoons and horrors at PNC Park.

2022-- After getting swept the weekend before the ASG the Brewers built a 4 game lead in the division in late July. After the infamous Hader trade the Brewers went to PNC and got swept by a bad Pirates team. From there they went on a slide that kept them out of the playoffs.

2007- Lost 5 of 6 to the Pirates and Nats before the ASB as a division lead that had been 8 games slipped away and eventually disappeared.

2009-Lost 8 of 10 going into the ASB. That turned a 2 game lead in the division into a 2 game deficit and the team went downhill from there.

2014- Lost 11 of 13 heading into the ASB as a 6.5 game division lead fell to 1 game. Team stayed close until the end of August when they completely collapsed.

2017- Went into break with a 5,5 game division lead. But, a week later they were swept in 4 games at PNC park to see their lead slip to 1 game. They lost the division lead for good shortly after and never recovered.

2019- lost 5 oF 6 at GAB and PNC before the ASB to surrender first place for good. They did rally in September to get the wild card spot.

For a span of just 20 years that’s a lot of examples where bad stretches right before the ASB and/or at PNC Park in Midseason. have tarnished good first halfs. Several of them have led to stumbles in the second half.

Hopefully this year will be more like the ones where the bad finishes were just a bump in the road

Lara is in like his 5th game and already puts together better at bats than like 80% of our roster.

As Chourio swings at a pitch about 4 inches inside and grounds into a double play to end it.
