Matos keeps mashing. An RBI single in the 1st for Brewers Blue. How he was left off the DSL all star team is beyond me! The swing looks good, the bat to ball numbers are frankly great, he already has a feel for lifting the baseball pullside... and there is an argument *statistically* he has been the best hitter throughout the ENTIRE DSL. Oh well úsalo para echar leña al fuego.

Really curious to see what Josh Norris has to say since he has been watching.

Eliomar Garces, leading off for the Devil Rays DSL team today has 50 walks to 10 strikeouts this year.

That is how you get a 1.000 OPS with only 5 extra base hits.

I need a software update in my brain. "Matos" currently still auto populates to "Luis" in my mind and I don't want that to be the case. Thank you for declaring "Blue" and "DSL" in your follow up because I would have been looking up Nashville numbers to figure out what I have been missing...

Lol to be quite honest I forgot Luis Matos was still in the Brewers system. I have not paid as much attention to Nashville as the other lower levels!

Congrats to one of this season's most pleasant surprises:

RHP Cameron Wagoner brings his goods to Nashville and the International League.

Correspondingly, after a season of struggle, RHP Will Childers heads back to Biloxi.

He is truly having an insane season as a 17-yo. Just a couple seasons ago we had that mid-summer Jose Anderson HR watch. He faded. He also never remotely touched Matos' whole package. This is one absurdly tantalizing prospect.

DSL Brewers Gold's 5-2 victory today pulls them even with DSL Cubs Blue in their division, with an 18-14 record. Winning the division would earn them a spot in the 16-team DSL playoffs (assuming that's the format this year).

DSL Brewers Blue is 20-13, but sitting 4.5 games out of first place in their division. In fact, they're in third place in a tough division, but I believe they're presently occupying 1 of the 8 wild card playoff spots.

Awesome to see both teams with a lot to play for over the next month.

We are once again back in a recent and familiar Playoff push for the DSL'ers. Here's hoping they can cross that bridge and get into those DSL Playoffs!

Wherever you may be may you experience clean air. I know the upper Midwest and the Great Lakes out to the East Coast are getting the brunt of those Ontario wildfires. Out this way, we had 2,000+ lightning strikes across Eastern Oregon and SE Washington in less than 24 hours and now we've seen over 100,000 acres burn in that same time frame - these fires are just beginning and they are many. I woke up to thick smoke blowing in from the Southwest and the mountain range some two miles across from our farm's front porch was shrouded by the thick smoke. This morning in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota - an area I spent summer portaging many a time in my 20's - the good folks up that way saw an additional 13,000 + lightning strikes into an area of preexisting multiple 10's of thousand acre wildfire burns. This new version of life on Earth is perilous and we face massive uncertainty in the years ahead. BUT, we can still pray for each other and help each other in these times. Heck, even the Brewers are under threat from a cancellation. You Midwesterners are getting an unfortunate taste of what mid to late summers are like in the Inner-Mountain West nearly every year. It is brutal. Be safe wherever you are and take care of One another.

Quite the cliff-hanger opening paragraph in the Shuckers post-game report:

Quote

O’RAE MAKES HISTORY IN SHUCKERS SERIES-OPENING WIN

Adamczewski records multi-hit performance, Shuckers pitching strands 10 baserunners

BILOXI, MS On a night when Dylan O’Rae became the fifth player in Biloxi Shuckers franchise history, the Shuckers (47-37, 12-7) earned a 4-2 win in a series opener against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (45-42, 9-9) on Friday night at Keesler Federal Park.

Fifth player in Biloxi Shuckers franchise history? Which current Shucker is the 1st?!

Tantalizing! 🤭
