Fair… but getting frustrating that other teams are trading spare parts for decent pieces and we seem to be content with our current roster as is (supplanted by some AAAA lottery tickets that we get for taking on dead weight salary)

I think nobody wants to trade our top tier of guys… but watching all our main competition bolster their lineup while we do nothing has to be a major blow to our guys on the roster

Arnold really isn't going to do anything, is he?? When he does, why in god's name does it always take him so long? Other teams get deals done sooner

Part of the problem with everyone praising your farm system is other teams think that you don't need this guy and that guy. Trying to fleece you. Don't give in Arnold unless it's a difference making bat and you're willing to move on from Yelich.

It's always hard to witness fan's first trade deadlines. You guys are in the anger phase right now, grieving will come probably Tuesday. 

The Brewers will win three of their next five games and Gausman will lose his first start with the Cubs and you will forget all about this experience by mid-August.

He'll just say things like "we had several lines in the water but weren't able to get anything across the finish line". Yes, and why weren't you? Because you trembled in fear over having to give up what other teams were asking for. It's funny because no one else seems to have issues giving up prospects, but Arnold acts like they are his kids

We know they won't move on from Yelich.

But if they did... what would you be willing to give up for Yordan Álvarez -- if Houston was listening?

Maybe until it gets to October and they are getting boat raced by the Dodgers again. not even close to my 1st trade deadline either.

For me, it is more wash, rinse, repeat.

I equate this to the Wisconsin Badgers when Barry Alvarez was coaching.  Win the Big Ten, but don't anything different that might win them the National Championship.  Before too long, the opportunity is gone.

Right?  I am a hard no on trading Made, Henderson, Pratt, and Lara… but the reality is with the lockout looming (that may reduce future team control), this was the year to be MORE aggressive.  In 2028, the rules may be less favorable for small markets like the brewers

Nothing happened until last night, and nothing was going to happen until Skubal was dealt.

This is a different year.  The Skubal domino had to fall first, and as already stated, Gausman had the Brewers on his NTC.

Oh I'm aware of that. But is there some rule that he can't acquire anyone until Monday? I almost guarantee the reason it always takes him so long is because he's hesitant, hems and haws over the asking price and then the guy gets traded somewhere else.

Are people bummed about Gausman? He kind of has stunk up the joint this year.

I don't think that is all relevant during the trade deadline.  I think that no trade list was for if he were traded in the off season.  He is a FA after this season so I don't believe that he would have invoked the NTC.

The Cubs acquiring 35-year Gausman does not seem like a big deal, which is why Toronto did not require a big return. If the Cubs acquired 2021 Gausman, it would be another story.

Last year they traded for Priester in April and Vaughn in June.  They also traded for Danny Jansen three days before the deadline.  Nobody moved faster than them.

Gausman was especially bad in June and July this season.

I feel bad for the guys on the team. You know damn well(whether they admit it or not) they are all VERY disappointed that their GM didn't take the big swing he said he was going to take. Even Murph was saying "this year is different". To me, that sends the wrong message. If the guys think you are taking big swings, then you had better deliver or they will think you just talk a big game but don't play one. It can't make Murph very happy either.
