Jacob Misiorowski has 166.1 IP this season and will likely have one more tune up start next week, too. Brandon Young has allowed a .930 OPS over three September starts this month for Baltimore.

You'd think Misiorowski is probably on some sort of a pitch count today. It's his first start on 4 days rest since early July.

Dodgers host San Diego for three games starting Tuesday. Brewers travel next to Philadelphia. Cubs host the Marlins. I think # 1 seed is important but no need to show your hand against the Phillies.

I was thinking even a little less than that, like 30-35 pitches or 3 innings max.

My son and I are going to the game tonight, and I was just telling him I wouldn’t expect him to pitch long at all probably 3 maybe 4 innings. I’m actually surprised we are not seeing Gordon start tonight but figure the Brewers want to get Miz some work without it being against the  Phillies.

I don't necessarily think it's about not showing your hand because I would still expect Henderson to pitch in the Phillies series. 

I'm pretty sure it's more about getting Miz used to 4 days rest as we're going to need him to pitch as often as possible in the postseason. Particularly when to this point, he's been going on 5-7 days rest.

Shortened start of 3-4 ups would make a lot of sense.

In 2025 the Brewers starting rotation threw 807 IP (26th) of 86 ERA- (4th) | 99 FIP- (12th) and tallied 17.1 rWAR (5th).

Peralta (176 IP | 6.1 rWAR), Quintana (131 IP | 1.7 rWAR), and Priester (130 IP | 3.6 rWAR) accounted for 50% of the games started, 54% of the innings pitched, and 66.7% of the rWAR.

With all three of those guys gone for different reasons (plus Woodruff getting hurt again, and Sproat bombing, and Harrison flopping in the second half, and Gasser having a rough first half, not to mention the abomination of Dustin May [whoops, just did]) the Brewers starting rotation this year has thrown 779 IP (20th) of 88 ERA- (6th) | 89 FIP- (4th) and tallied 15.9 rWAR (6th). 

Half the quantity and two turds of the quality gone from last year's rotation? No problem, bout to blow past 97 Wins anyway.

Score some early runs, get me out of there with a low pitch count, and bring that magic number down to four today!

Not quite sure what you mean by don’t show your hand… I absolutely think we should try to win every game.

That said I would not push Henderson or Miz past 60 to 75 pictures for the rest of the regular season if that’s what you mean by don’t show your hand:

Maybe call up Crow to make a spot start?  I really have no interest in seeing Dusty May pitch for the Brewers ever again.

Yes, try to win, but it seems to our advantage to not have the Phillies see Henderson before the playoffs

Just looked at forecast for Baltimore and they have Storms / Showers due to move in as the afternoon goes on and the game may get delayed or postponed.  So that off day tomorrow may be needed.

Crap.   The good news is, that would give Miz regular rest.   The bad news is, our bullpen then goes 7 straight to finish in a week where our starters may throw less innings
