  1. He is only marginally better than Rea and the way he has been trending I am not sure how long he will be just marginally better than Rea. Yes he is a more known name than Rea but other than that they are the same pitcher. Also I think the Phillies or the Cardinals will try and get him. I would rather not overpay for someone that has an xERA of 5.23.
  2. LOL this umpire has no idea where the strike zone is.
  3. One positive Burnes has pitched up in the zone this game.
  4. Weirder things have happened in the MLB draft.
  5. I went all college except for the last pick here: Not sure why Taylor keeps on dropping to me at the 18th pick but I will keep on drafting him there if he is there and hopefully he does drop and the Brewers select him. I really like Witt and this could be a steal in the 2nd round. He is coming off of TJ surgery but I think this is a good steal at this pick along with Carlson Reed in the 4th round. May have to go above slot a bit for Hunter Dietz but I think he is a potential #3 type of a pitcher if he develops an off speed pitch or two. He has an electric fastball. He has thrown a slider/cutter but it is a work in progress.
  6. Unlikely as Burnes has been trending downwards for about a year now. The only saving grace for the Brewers this deadline is that the best pitcher available right now is Eduardo Rodriguez. I don't believe the Angels will trade Ohtani. Bieber could also be available at the deadline who has also won a Cy Young.
  7. Couldn't you also just do a pitcher infuser? Would be cheaper as all you would have to do is buy some sugar and cut up the lemons and place in the infuser. If lemons get expensive switch to limes or other fruit that are less expensive.
  8. Brewers are just missing the mistake pitches or not swinging at them.
  9. This team is horrible at watching fastballs go down the center of the plate. If it is a fastball and it is going down the center of the plate you need to be swinging at it. I don't care if the count what the count is. If the pitcher is going to give you a nice pitch to swing at swing at it.
  10. Going to say this again and again and again. Peralta needs an opener.
  11. That is mostly due to travel which is fine as the Cubs also have two days off for that.
  12. The Royals also have two days off in a row. These are the only two teams I think have more than one day off not counting the All Star break.
  13. You missed one in CJ Kayfus but he is more likely to be a day 2 pick than a day 1 pick. Power wise is the question for Kayfus but he can absolutely hit. Kayfus is comparable to Votto where he will put up high average and high OBP but won't hit a ton of HR's. He does have advanced strike zone skills and won't chase all that much. He is currently sitting at a 1:1 BB:K. If you don't like strikeouts then Kayfus is someone you will like.
  14. Dalvin Cook to be traded today? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10077499-dalvin-cook-rumors-teams-believe-vikings-will-trade-or-release-rb-amid-dolphins-buzz
  15. I think J.D. Martinez was probably the best signing this off season and was someone I wanted the Brewers to go after. His .278/.320/.611 for a 145 wRC+ would look really good in the Brewers lineup right now as the everyday DH. Though the majority of his damage is coming against RHP so he wouldn't have helped against LHP. Though career wise he has mashed lefties with a 150 wRC+.
  16. I think that will continue as long as they are one of MLB's main sponsors.
  17. It is not just home runs but doubles are probably going to be rare also. Frelick is probably just a singles hitter. Kind of reminds me of a better version of Juan Pierre or Podsednik.
  18. I am wondering if the Brewers go with CJ Kayfus (1B). He is a really good defensive 1B and has the hit tool and power to stay at 1B. Would be an interesting comp or 2nd round pick. He may not be available in round 3 where the Brewers are picking.
  19. Could get a competitive balance pick from the Rays, Mariners, Reds, Royals, Rockies, Guardians, Pirates, Orioles, A's, Marlins or D'backs. If the Brewers trade Burnes up to 2-hours before the draft. So it is possible the Rays could trade prospects plus their comp-a pick (~$6M) to the Brewers. I am just not sure the Rays would do that. A quick edit something like: Williams (SS/3B), Comp-A pick and Basabe (SS) would be at that $45m surplus value.
  20. Even if the Brewers are out of it I think they should trade Frelick. I just don't see Frelick being anything more than a .280/.370/.400 hitter in MLB. He just doesn't have the power to be anything more than that. If somehow the Brewers could trick the White Sox in giving up Robert for a Frelick plus deal I am agreeing before the White Sox can rethink the trade.
  21. The Brewers will have some leverage but not much. I think the most the Brewers get is $45m in excess value. Burnes right now is rated at about $50m in excess value so the Brewers will be selling at about a $5m loss. I think most trades are going to come in at the $40m mark. So at most expect 1 top 25-50 ranked player and a bunch of 15-20 organizational ranked players.
  22. I did this draft: I think this would be an expensive draft for the Brewers. I doubled up on 3B as two fell in my lap with Taylor and Morales. One will move over to DH probably Morales assuming both hit like they should. Not really happy with the pitching options that were available. Taylor and Morales are basically the same player just flipped on their offensive strengths. Taylor is a 60 hit 50 power hitter while Morales is a 50 hit 60 power hitter.
  23. Another trade but I think this would be a move the Rays wouldn't do but... Rays get: Burnes Brewers get: Caminero (3B) and Basabe (SS). Brewers get a very young 3B who will need to be added to the 40-man after this season and a really good SS in Basabe. Basabe is a better version of Turang. This would then allow the Brewers to trade Adames for pitching. Trade #2 Dodgers get: Adames Brewers get: Stone (RHP), Sheehan (RHP) and Munoz (1B). With the two trades this resets the Brewers for '24 by giving the Brewers some youth in the starting rotation and in the infield with Turang and Basabe.
