  1. I think there is a very good shot Durbin is the starting 3b next year. The Brewers utilized Williams to fix the 3b hole. If Durbin is struggling mid-season, they you probably see Boeve or Wilkin get a shot.
  2. I love high OBP infield prospects with speed and a glove, so I'm a big fan of Durbin. Very surprised he really didny show up on any prospects list. Maybe his big AFL performance had not yet factored in. Getting a mid-rotation starter to boot is also nice.
  3. Its actually pretty cheap for a decent backup catcher.
  4. The current Brewers front office seems to place a really high value on defense. Bohm is a below average defender. He's also not cheap going into a year where the Brewers might be looking to cut the payroll. Thus, I just dont see Bohm as a good fit for this Brewers front office. The exception would be if they see him as a future DH. At that position his bat would be very average for a DH.
  5. Good riddance on Bauers. I was a bit bummed re Rob Zas. I figured Hoby would be gone and Jared Koenig and Zas would take that spot. I guess the roster crunch is pretty serious.
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/colin-rea-clears-waivers-brewers-to-decline-club-option.html Apparently Rea cleared waivers. So not one other team wanted him for $5.5 million. I am surprised as $5.5 million seems light for a back end starter/long man. I am guessing there is stuff in the numbers suggesting a decline is coming.
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/10/cubs-to-hire-quintin-berry-as-third-base-coach.html. Looks like the cubs are hiring Quintin Berry to be their third base coach. Bummer.
  8. Excellent post. This is all spot on. There is no way the Brewers should even consider engaging Adames. Frankly, if the Brewers intend to complete I dont think I would want to be locked in with Adames for more than 2 more years. Obviously, his deal is going to be much longer than 2 years.
  9. Looks like things are off to a great start. Hope everyone is enjoying their "bite of the apple." Mines a bit sour.
  10. Absolute meltdown. The "bite of the apple" strikes again.
  11. Mears doing his best to make this interesting.
  12. I had pretty much written off Weimer in 2023. Wish him the best but things dont look good for him. With his swing I felt he was either going to be Hunter Pence 2.0 or a complete bum.
  13. Just a guess. But I would think a) Gives teams an opportunity to reward up and comers with a cup of coffee, and b) Gives teams a chance to bring in reinforcements at the end of a long brutal marathon of a season.
  14. Montas against the Dodgers lineup. Should be "fun." Im setting the over under for his innings pitched at 4.
  15. Pirates lost yet again today. Now just need some help from the Rays tonight.
  16. Two walks and then a 3 run dinger with an 8 run lead. If you want the recipe to get DFA'd, thats it.
  17. Welp. Last night was fun. The old Brewers are back.
  18. You have to give this front office credit. They have been nothing short of superb at turning reclamation projects into productive bullpen arms.
  19. My reaction to the Montas trade: 1. The Brewers had a 40-man roster crunch. This solves a bit of the crunch. 2. I had essentially written off Weimer as a part of the future. It appears the Brewers had written him off too. Hopefully the Reds dont turn him into Hunter Pence. That would really sting. 3. I gotta think the Montas trade also really plays into what is going to go down today.
  20. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/lucas-erceg-drawing-significant-interest.html Apparently Lucas Erceg is drawing considerable interest. Its really too bad we just gave him away last summe.r
  21. I think these teams can smell some blood in the water. I doubt they go "all-in" but some little moves to improve wont surprise me.
  22. The Rays claimed Joel Kuhnel. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/rays-claim-joel-kuhnel-from-brewers.html That solves a tiny part of the ongoing roster crunch.
  23. I believe Milner will get traded or dfa'd before the deadline. I've felt that way for weeks. (Yes I'm aware his peripherals are decent). Zas and Koenig make him expendable. Even if not I see him get on tendered as I don't see the Brewers wanting to give him another raise.
