  1. I would be nice to see Freddy put together a couple quality starts. Woody, Priester, and Mis are gaining as the top 3 for a playoff series.
  2. Pratt hurt now as well. Our minors are getting so slammed with injuries. Has there been any positive injury updates on guys like Luke Adams, I know Dinges and Fischer are in the Bridge league and close to return. Exited that Pena and Made are moved up together. I am surprised Josh A didn't go with or before them but maybe the club is just giving a little bit more time back from the injury.
  3. 1) Re-Up Vaughn at least as of now (maybe try to extend if he plays well the rest of the way). 2) Freddy and Koenig to NYM for Ronny Mauricio and Jonah Tong (maybe a lesser prospect or two) 3)Extend Woody maybe 2/40 on top of the mutual 20. 3) Trade Mitchell or Perkins for prospect 4)Extend Turang and Frelick (buy 2-3 years of free agency around 15 per year) 5) Add the usual cheap vets and minor league contract. (C depth, low success high potential pitching) 6) Shop MeGill and Contreras for extreme overpay but no trade unless big package. 1)Sal RF 2)LF/CF Chourio 3)DH Yeli 4)C Contreras 5) 1B Vauhgn 6)LF/CF Collins/Perk/Mitchell 7)2B Turang 8)3B Durbin 9)Ortiz/Mauricio Bench: Catcher (Quero, Seigler, or cheap vet), Mitchell/Perk, Mauricio, Mone/Seigler/EMJ/Black/cheap vet Why chang what has been working Rotation) Woody, Misi, Preister, 2 of Patrick, Gasser, Henderson, Ashby, Hall Tong, CarRod, Crow Pen: Megill, Uribe, Mears, Anderson, Ashby, Hall, Yoho, cheap vet Not much changes, it would be nice to keep Woody or Freddy but we could be OK without. I don't no finances wise what my scenerio comes out to.
  4. For me Quintana isn't a huge loss but he does still have some big upside still. But just the idea that we put such a negative value on Cortes is confusing. The Guardians got Khal Stephans a borderline top 100 prospect for Bieber. Cortes isn't the same pitcher but I feel like we should have gotten a Quintana like prospect not given one up. Especially if we are paying any part of Cortes. Locking doesn't look any different than Avans or any of the other AAA OF. It does seem like every other team got the Pads to overpay in deals and we got got. I do like the Miller deal especially if it is only a couple million for Montegomery (don't like much if it is the whole 7.5) As someone eluded to Montgomery would be a good minor league/minimum salary vet for next year.
  5. For sellers vantage I think the A's did amazing for Mason Miller. Leo de Vries has superstar potential and the 3 arms they got have some sneaky potential. I also like Khal Stephens the return Cleveland got for Beiber, there is alot of potential there for a starter who hasn't pitched in a year and a half.
  6. Not much for McGee but I would think Koenig would have solid value. It would be easy to move Ashby to the Koenig role and have Myers or Henderson move to the long relief spot. I would think that could be a positive move for now and get us a couple nice prospects. I really am not opposed to selling a couple arms if we could get strong returns.
  7. What a great night for Brewers baseball all around. Great to see so many strong results. When do we expect to see some of the draft picks debuting? I would guess by Tuesday right. I would think we should get a look at almost all of the college picks and maybe even Ebel.
  8. Let's get weird. 1) Maikel Garcia for Issac Collins, Joey Ortiz, and Jared Koenig. We get the big SS upgrade and KC gets young controllable depth. 2) Steven Kwan for Pratt, Patrick, Wilken, and Hunt It would be a steep price but Kwan would be a perfect Brewer with Garcia each of the package would be mostly blocked. 3) Danny Coulombe for Tyler Black and Carlos Rodriguez (maybe a lotto style 3rd piece). We upgrade the late inning lefty role for 2 more blocked young upside guys. 4) Jose Quintana for 2 way Conrad Cason and OF Zach Ehrhard We replenish the system and bit and don't hopefully lose anything when Cortes takes Q's spot. This gives us an amazing lineup, doesn't really hurt our rotation (still massive depth) and strengthens our pen. On top, of it we open up a bunch of 40 man spots for Arnold to work some magic with.
  9. With Vaughn, Collins, and Durbin playing so well SS is the only position I would really want. If we got a reliever like Mears last year at a good price or traded for a late inning reliever relatively cheap I would be OK. On top of that buy low options like IKF don't do much for me. If we go after a SS I say go big, however I really doubt any of the better SS on selling teams are available. I haven't seen Castro play SS but from the stuff I've read he seems to be an emergency SS and not an everyday option. But like I said I don't really know.
  10. I love Kwan but the only way this makes sense is the before mentioned move of Collins to 2B and Turang to SS. I do really like that move but 110 games in with both Turang and Collins having minimal time at each doesn't make sense. If this was the offseason, yes I get it. Getting a player like Kwan is going to cost more a bunch than we got for Burnes. Think close to what the White Sox got for Crochet. I would guess the Guardians ask for Pratt, Henderson/Patrick, Adams/Lara/Wilken, and a lower level teenage pitcher. In turn I would think we decline.
  11. It took me way way longer than it should have to figure out who Bobby Petrol was. I like it
  12. I wish we would have just been able to pay Jensen's salary and been able to send out a lesser prospect. However Arienamo was probably 5/6 on the SS/2B depth list.
  13. Haase only has 77 plate appearances so even if Jansen plays twice as much that is like 75 ab's. That doesn't seem like much for Jadher. I get that Jadher is blocked and has some swing flaws. I doubt that Contreras DH's a lot more because than you are taking Collins out of the lineup and that hurts the lineup. The only explanation to me is that Contreras is going to go on the DL to get right. I do like Jansen alot and if he plays enough the next 2 months there is some solid upside. If we were to say trade William in the offseason Jansen would be a great tandem with Quero if not to expensive to resign.
  14. I would prefer Mauricio he can play SS and OF on top of switch hit. I like Baty but just think Mauricio would be perfect. Why Coulombe? I get the other 2 and didn't realize how good Coulombe has been the past few years but lefty relief is one thing we have way more than enough of. I guess I can see it if you would replace Koenig in the 8th with him.
  15. 1) Nestor Cortes and Elvis Peguero to Detriot for P Ty Madden Madden has some command issues but still has bigger upside even at 25. The Tigers need a 5th starter and Peguero gives them needed bullpen depth. 2) Brandon Lowe and for Tyson Hardin and Flippo Di Turri The Ray's got Ha-Sheong Kim back crowding their IF. Lowe is injuried but should be back around the deadline. He would be the power bat we need I would expect Lowe to play 1B and DH (rarely OF or 2B) . He also has an option for next year. Hardin and Di Turri are 2 nice young pieces that are likely just buried in our system. This could be Yandy Diaz and another good prospect would need to be added or possibly one of there other IF players (Mead, Caberello, Wells) for less.
  16. I like Cruz but wouldn't give up any major pieces. If they want like 4 of our secondary pieces fine Boeve, CarRod, EMJ, and Birchard. Cruz could make a sweet utility guy maybe add 1B/3B to his repeteiore. As a left handed utility guy who could play basically everywhere hit 30/30, I wouldn't care to much if he hit .220. That being said the Pirates would get a much better package.

  18. I was just reading that the Mets are open to trading infield depth. I have always love Ronny Mauricio and think he would be a perfect target. A switch hitter who can play all IF spots and play some OF as well. He is very volatile but could be a utility guy with 20/20 (maybe 30/30) upside. I would guess they would want pitching DL Hall would be a pretty close value I feel. The Mets might be be looking for an set-up man.
  19. That being said Issac Collins has been as good as Kwan the past couple months.
  20. I like Kwan a bunch, he has 2.5 years of control and has been a 4-5 WAR player. I do think he fits our philosophy perfectly. I would guess that it would have to be a pretty strong package my guess would be Pratt, Patrick/Hall/Henderson, and Wilken/Adams/Letson.
  21. I think we are at a point where Caleb Durbin has played well enough that 3B isn't really a need unless you think he could move to SS. Durbin is currently at 2.2 WAR after missing a month and have a rough first month or so after being called up. He is probably been playing at a near 5 WAR pace since. Ortiz has made up 1-1.5 WAR but for whatever reason baseball reference has him at -7 defensive runs saved which is nuts.
  22. I like Castro but I wouldn't pay a very high price for an expiring utility guy. Especially since SS is not really part of his repertoire, 56 games 2024 -9 runs (26 innings this year). Still he switch hits so it wouldn't be bad. I would try for 2 lower ranked guys instead of 1 decent prospect.
  23. Dang, all my musing are going no where. Edward Cabrera could be similar, he has a year more control but not as consistent. I wouldn't give up Henderson for him. Patrick/Hall, Boeve/Wilken, Arienamo/Josh A, and through in DSL prospect. He does have some very high upside that could warrent a decent package.
