  1. Abel/Painter and Christopher Sanchez would be my ask.
  2. When do most publications update rankings? Before/after spring training I use mlb.com the most because it is the easiest to access but it seems like it hasn't been updated since before the end of the season.
  3. We still have Snell, Montgomery, Imagana maybe Giolito, Stroman, Clevinger, Kershaw possibly Bauer and then the really desperate teams will pay big.
  4. Adames for Busch would be fine by me. Busch should be a solid 1st baseman, however I would go after Miguel Vargas before Busch. I doubt the Dodgers would be in on Burnes after Glasnow, Ohtani, and Yoshi but who knows it wouldn't be to crazy.
  5. I would really hold out for Mayo buT a deal of Joey Ortiz, Connor Norby, Tyler Wells, and starting prospect would be ok for me. I would move Adames to 3rd and split 2B and SS between Turang, Ortiz, Norby. Black would be my 1st baseman and then Wilken would slot into 3rd next year. I still would prefer Mayo and 2 other piece but the O's have enough to make a couple packages solid.
  6. A package of Schaneul/Netopia, Dana and 3rd good piece would work but as others pointed out the Angels shouldn't do that. Although they did give up Quero and Bush for a half year of Giolito and Lopez (who they cut at the end of the year). A Burnes and Adames package by that standard could get Schaunel, Neto, and one of their young starters.
  7. I have been operating as Joe Ross is a reliever, he just hasn't pitched enough the past few years to feel confident. I would put him in a multi-inning role and if he looks good let him roll into the rotation as a 6th starter or injury replacement. 1) Burnes 2) Peralta 3) Miley 4)Rea 5)Gasser at this point if we don't make any big trades I would probably add a few minor league options, maybe someone like Chris Flexen, Luke Weaver, or Noah Syndergaard. I don't really like any of those options but they are all young enough that a bounce back is possible. In my perfect world we would trade Burnes, Adames, and a couple relievers and pickup 2 young mlb ready arms to slot into the rotation.
  8. Good article. I like Clarke Schmidt as a Yankees option he is young with good stuff and could fit into the rotation right away. The Yanks do have a lot in there farm as far as ancillary pieces like P Warren, Selvidge, Laline, Beeter, Messinger IF Cabrera, Vivas, Cerna, Rice, Hardman Burnes and Byrce Wilson for Clark Schmidt, Chase Hampton, and C/1B Ben Rice We get a Burnes replacement this year, Hampton maybe ready at the end of the year and Rice could make a cool long term platoon with Wes Clarke at 1B/DH/2nd C. Giants are similar lots of interesting ancillary pieces. Burnes and Adames for LaMonte Wade, Carson Wisenhunt, Keaton Winn, and Casey Schmidt. We get a solid 1B for a couple years Schmidt gets a real chance to play his natural 3B, and Winn can be in the rotation with Wisenhunt ready to be top of the rotation in 2025. Braves, Blue Jays, Rangers, Red Sox, O's, Angels, Cubs, Mets, and maybe Padres could all logically be options.
  9. We need to get a top 100 prospect or equivalent young player. Polanco as a secondary piece would be fine. I really can't see a Twins deal working because I doubt they give up the bigger young price for 1 year of Burnes. Brooks Lee, Connor Prillip, and Polanco would be my ask for Burnes and a reliever.
  10. I posted similar trades earlier. 1/2 year of Ryan Yarbrough got the Dodgers 29th prospect and a 19 year old lotto prospect, Houser has a full year of contol and is similar quality pitchers. We gave up Avina and Sanchez for Bauers. Taylor is way more valuable than Bauers and I would argue Avina is a better prospect than Crow because he isn't out all year.
  11. I think the problem is that those of you for this trade are not seeing the economics of the deal. We should have been able to get a better return for just one of those guys. I am in agreement that I would rather have Gasser get a rotation spot over Houser and have more OF ab's for our young bats. However we should have done better, the 7 million we save is not going to get us anything of notable value that is better than Houser. The 2 40 man spots are meaningless because we could easily release Baukausas and Vinny Capra to get those spots. To this point our mlb roster, offesnse and pitching has gotten worse than last year. On top of that our farm system has also taken a hit. I have faith Arnold will make some good moves and signings but I am worried with the direction of our offseason.
  12. Ryan Yarbrough at the deadline got the Dodgers #29 1B prospect and a 19 lotto type prospect. I like a full year of Houser a lot more than 2 month of Yarbrough. We gave up Jace Avina for Bauers. I would argue Avina is a better prospect than Crow and that Taylor has way more value than Bauers.
  13. I am sure he did but he would have way more value to us than the 5 million. Colin Rae is making 3.5 witha 1 million buyout. I'd rather have kept Houser for the extra million. We gave up Devanney and Brady for Clarke, which in my opinion is giving up more in prospect value than what we got for both Houser and Taylor. Individually Taylor or Houser should have more trade value than Clarke.
  14. It is a bad trade because we got nothing for them. Both guys should have had more value then the guy w got. Crow was a 28th round pick who only averages 90 mph on his fastball and underwent Tommy John in August after only pitching 4 games all last year. My guess is that odds that he never pitches in our organization are better than him being a rotation piece in the future. Houser as a 4th starter at 5 million should at least gotten a top 20 prospect and 3 years of a high quality 4th OF should be similar.
  15. What a terrible trade. Why even tender Houser and Taylor contacts if we get basically nothing for them combined. Crow is going to be out basically the entire season after only throwing 4 games last year. On top of that he only throw 90 so there really isn't much of a future. Houser is worth a decent amount more than the 5 million he will make and Taylor is worth more than 2 mill. Both guys on their own should have gotten a player better than Crow. Even if the goal was to save the money we should have been able to do way better.
  16. Hopefully the more to come is another better piece than Crow. At the moment it seems like Arnold is giving Stearns a thanks for the job trade.
  17. Good backup option, doesn't have to catch much with Contreras but if the bat gets hot he can sneak in some OF work (if we trade a couple options) or is probably athletic enough to pick up 1st. I would still find a vet minor league depth catcher in case he starts off like he played last year but if we can improve his defense the once a week starts won't hurt much if the bat isn't there. I don't know if I would trust him much as a pinch hitter like we did Caratini last year but maybe if he hits well like 21/22 my mind would change quickly. I was thinking we were going to end up with Tucker Barnhart, Haase is a much better option in my opinion.
  18. I think a dodger trade would be fairly straight forward 1) Pitcher=Sheehan, Stone, Frasso 2) IF Vargas, Busch, Lux 3) extra piece=non top 10 prospect I can't see us giving up a comp B pick. I would think we would add a reliever or OF in any deal we're we would give up extra to level up a player. I)Vargas, Sheehan for Burnes Skip the 3rd piece to get the 2 most coveted pieces 2) Stone, Frasso, Kyle Hurt/Ronan Kopp for Burnes and Elvis Peguero We get 3 high potential arms who are all mlb ready and skip IF prospect. 3) Stone, Busch/Lux, and SS Joendry Vargas for Burnes and Wilson We take the lesser of the pitcher/If combo to add the upside of Vargas.
  19. Even with an extension Wisenhunt and Harrison are probably off limits. I am not a huge Luciano fan but Wisenhunt and Luciano would be what I would try for. I do really like Reggie Crawford, Mason Black, Hayden Birdsong, Landen Roupp, Keaton Winn as 2n/3rd pieces. Maybe the Giants would still be interested in Yeli as well after signing Lee.
  20. I forgot they had Sabol. He seems like a perfect backup catcher. He can play OF (maybe a touch of 1B) as well, he is a nice left handed backup and has options. I really like Willy to the Giants, I was thinking Bart as a 2nd or 3rd throw-in piece. Adames for 3B Casey Schmidt, Sabol, and P Will Bednar Schmidt was rushed to the bigs and miscast at SS/2B but is a good 3B. Bednar has struggled to stay healthy but would be more than a throw-in.
  21. Mayer would be perfect, I bet we could add in a reliever to get Mayer. I like Ceddeanne Rafaela, he would be good as a 2B but it sounds like he is most valuable at CF. If we had to take back Story the Sox would need to take Yeli. I doubt Yeli would want to go to the Red Sox but the Red Sox could use an OF, if they think Yeli or Yoshida would be good in RF then a bigger trade would work (I would prefer Sale over Story). Burnes and Payamps for Mayer, Blaze Jordan (move to 1st), and P Tanner Houck and/or Garrett Whitlock. Mayer has the superstar potential but wasn't very good in AA, Jordan has improved every year and could be a high end 1B (below average at 3rd), since the Sox don't have great young pitching we go for Houck or Whitlock who both have good stuff but weren't great last year but very solid in 21 and 22. Our pitching team could easily fix either or both.
  22. I don't think Burnes would be a negative drain on the clubhouse. Last year was essentially the same as next year will be from a contract perspective. As long as we don't overuse him I think he will be who he was. We probably couldn't replace Cy Young version of Burnes but the Burnes from last year we can. Burnes was worth 3.5 WAR (baseball-reference) last year, Lauer, Teheran, Houser, Rae were worth 1.9 WAR in over 60 starts (essentially the 4/5 rotation spots) So between the ace and 4/5 spots we would need to replace 5.4 (say 6 WAR). Peralta wasn't great so he could easily pick up a win or two more. Getting 3 two win pitchers won't be to crazy. Now replacing Woodruff may be more difficult because he had 2.4 WAR in 11 starts, which a more effective Burnes and Peralta could do on their own. I think the only problem is losing him for just a comp. pick. (or nothing if an injury.
  23. LF Yelich, CF Chourio. RF Weimer, DH Taylor, 1B Mitchell, 2B Frelick, 3B Perkins, SS Roller, C Contreras Almost a full lineup of outfielders to go with the 16 or so relievers.
  24. Would Tyrone Taylor and Bryce Wilson get Jorge Polance (maybe a prospect to even out control). I kind of like the idea of trading our 6th OF and 6/7th best reliever for a solid vet IF.
  25. I like Yeli to Seattle for Robbie Ray and a 2nd piece. The M's love to trade and need OF and offense help. Ray has 3/69 left which is better than Yeli's deal however we could probably get either Ty France or a young pitcher like Emerson Hancock as the 2nd piece. Our staff would probably get Ray back to his old self and build up his value if we wanted to keep him or trade him next year. Seattle is not really close to Cali but is the West Coast so maybe Yeli excepts a deal.
