MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Washington Nationals will purchase the contract of right-hander Jason Simontacchi from Triple-A Columbus and start him against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, the team announced.

Simontacchi is 0-1 with a 5.91 ERA in two starts with Columbus. The 33-year-old Simontacchi played with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2002 to 2004, going 20-10 with a 4.77 ERA. He missed the entire 2005 season after shoulder surgery. In 2006, he was a reliever in the independent Atlantic League.

He signed with Washington as a minor league free agent last December.

What? Trent Durrington wasn't available? Simon says go get 'em tomorrow boys!

With Hart out the entire series, who starts in the outfield tomorrow night with Jenkins and Hall? Gross or Gwynn? I guess it could be Mench again too even though they're facing a righty.

Those of you who viewed Cappy's quick disposal of the Nats tonight...can relax and unwind tomorrow, Vargas is pitching.

Come on now Claudio, you are allowed to K guys with the bases empty too.

I think even Bad Dave Bush could only give up 3 runs to the Nationals. I knew they were bad, but I had no idea they were *that* bad after watching Cappy cruise through tonight's game. Cappy's not the type to miss a ton of bats, either. I could be wrong, but I swear I could've counted the number of times the Nats hit the ball out of the infield on one hand.

Perfect opportunity to get Gross a start out in RF. Or we could have him pitch and put Bushy out in RF

Trent Durrington can pitch? I never saw that thread here. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Splitter, I hope you're right about Vargas. I don't want to see another loss on Wednesday. But back to the game at hand: go Brewers tonight!

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I think with Vargas going, we get the opposite of last nights 2 hour game. I love ya Vargas, but you pitch sloooooow brother.

A bet on how many times tonight Bill mentions that Zimmerman needs a good hitter behind him in the lineup ignoring that Church is the Nationals best hitter and is hitting behind Zimmerman? I'm going 3.

Honestly, I expect them to sweep this series. I'd be disappointed if they didn't. The Nats are just so bad.

I mean, come on - Jason Simontacchi?

Durrington got the win in a game a couple of a nights ago in AAA Hawing, I forgot for who, but the game log was outrageous, it was linked in the minor league forum.

I don't get the hate for Bush. He pitched six solid innings last week, ran out of gas, and Yost opted not to bail him out (likely because he had burned up 7th inning stalwart Matt Wise the night before). It could have worked out, but it didn't. Memo to Ned - don't let Dave Bush throw 111 pitches tonight, unless he's working on a CG shutout and we have a big lead in the 9th. And maybe not even then.

My spidey sense says that Vargas gets tattood tomorrow, so here's to a victory tonight and another series won.

Whenever i watch him pitch, he seems to give up a big inning this year. I don't hate him, i have just come to expect it.

I to am on board for a Jenkins, Hall and Gross OF tonight. Jenkins has been hot and Hall got hot last nigth with that 3-4. I feel Bushie is gonna have a good start and avoid the "big inning" tonight. Go Brewers!
