Hadn't seen a thread for 2009 Post-Season Predictions...so here goes.

AL Central 1 Gamer: Twins over Tigers
ALDS: Yankees over Twins in 3; Red Sox over Angels in 5
ALCS; Yankees over Red Sox in 7 (Jeter MVP)

NLDS: Dodgers over Cardinals in 4; Phillies over Rockies in 5
NLCS: Dodgers over Phillies in 5 (Ethier MVP)

World Series: Yankees over Dodgers in 5 (Sabathia MVP)

Who do I want to win and why: Anaheim for Adenhart, his family, and that entire extended family.

Twins over Tigers. Homefield advantage and I think Baker is better than Porcello as of right now.

ALDS: Yankees over Twins in 3 and Red Sox over Angels in 4.

ALCS: Red Sox over Yankees in 6.

NLDS: Dodgers over Cardinals in 5 and Phillies over Rockies in 4.

World Series: Red Sox over Dodgers in 6.

I want the Rockies to win it all.

Alas, I won't be watching playoff baseball this year as the Yanks will go all the way. This is excatly why there are typhoons, pestilensce (sic), plague, man's inhumanity, etc., it's all because of those damn Yanks.

Need to look at the playoff match ups a bit more to make any predictions. However, I'm rooting for Detroit tomorrow. I think Detroit has been hurt more than many other cities in the last year or so. They need something to be happy about.....just as long as they don't burn down the city during their "celebrations".

Also, I have never been huge fan of the Twins. A. I hate the dome they play in now. but think it's a mistake to build a new stadium without a retractable roof. B. The fans never support the team the way they should. The twins are always in the playoff race, but they just can't seem to draw fans like a playoff contending team should.

Twins 7 Tigers 2 tomorrow afternoon

Yankees over Twins 3 games to 1.

Angels over Red Sox 3 games to 2.

Dodgers over Cardinals 3 games to 1. (Suck on that, LaRussa!)

Phillies over Rockies 3 games to 0.

Angels over Yankees 4 games to 3.

Dodgers over Phillies 4 games to 3.

Angels vs. Dodgers is cancelled due to California sinking into the sea. (Okay, really I think Angels over Dodgers 4 games to 2.)

Tigers win the play in tomorrow by scoring early and often.

AL

In the biggest surprise of the playoffs, Verlander shuts down the Yankees in games 2 and 5 of the ALDS as the Tigers defeat the Yanks. The Red Sox will edge out the angels 3-2 after battling through some pitching struggles. In the ALCS the Tigers will lose to the Red Sox in game 5 at Fenway Park in a lopsided series.

NL

The Cardinals will sweep the Dodgers in the NLDS. The Phillies also pull out a sweep over the Rockies. In an NLCS with well rested players, the Phillies win 4 games to 2 as the only two Cardinal wins come on the backs of Chris Carpenter. Significant blame falls on the back of Cy Young Adam Waignwright.

World Series

Phillies surprise with back to back world series championships as the Red Sox in a classic made for tv drama.

Want

Rockies/Dodgers

Angels/Twins

Rockies/Twins

Rockies

Actual (basically the opposite):

Cardinals/Phillies

Yankees/Red Sox

Yankees/Cardinals

Yankees

Should be a boring postseason for the flyover region of the country.

I will root for anyone but the Yankees. Unfortunately the Yankees will probably win it all and I will have to skip work the day of the parade because my office is on Broadway. As much as I hate the cardinals I would even rather they win than the Yankees.

I predict Rockies vs Dodgers and Yankees vs Angels. Yankees over the Rockies in 4.

Aye, if it comes down to STL-NYY I won't be watching the World Series. Of the playoff field, that would be my nightmare WS matchup...unless Joe Buck's head explodes from trying to keep up with all the Jeter/Pujols worship. Still, that would be gross to actually watch (the head asplode).

Phillies don't need it again;

STL certainly doesn't;

Dodgers...maybe, but it would turn into a Manny and Torre show;

Rockies...I guess the least offensive to me overall, but given the competition that doesn't say much. Rock-tober was clever once.

Yankees, HECK no;

Red Sox, ditto;

Twins/Tigers, yeah, either. Frankly, Michigan could probably use the emotional distraction.

Angels...I'd be OK with this. The Nick Adenhart angle is the tiebreaker for me.

In past years I've tried to live vicariously through people I know who are fans of the teams in the playoffs. Having had a taste of "the real thing" last year, though, I don't want to go back to that method.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

In order of preference

Twins/Tigers - - basically the underdogs

Dodgers - - I think Torre is way over rated but I like a lot of their players, Kemp, Ethier, Kershaw, Billingsley, Broxton, and yes Manny.

Angels - - I like Scioscia and the team always seems fun to watch

Phillies -- not a big fan of the team but starting to get into the lesser of evils area for me. I don't mind their offense other than never liking Victorino or Werth (they seem to kill the Brewers).

Rockies - - sort of like the Phillies, don't really care but never really liked the team.

Red Sox - - hey, they ain't the Yankees

Cardinals - - insufferable fans, Buck and McCarver fawning would be too much

Yankees- - seriously? A quarter billion in contracts in one offseason?

Yankees 3, Twins 1

Angels 3, Red Sox 2

Rockies 3, Phillies 1

Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0

Angels 4, Yankees 2 (Angels clinch the pennant at Yankee Stadium...haha)

Rockies 4, Dodgers 3 (a classic postseason series that will take place after most of the country has gone to bed.)

Angels 4, Rockies 2 (the Rockies put up a decent fight this time, but it won't be enough.)

Themes: we'll constantly hear about the Yankees and lots of complaining about how the World Series is played during November.

All I ask is that the Tigers make the ALCS. I won the Tigers ALCS ticket lottery and just spent two grand on 4 seats for 4 games in Detroit. If Detroit ends up playing Boston in the ALCS, I stand a chance of making a $2K profit or more.

Personally, I am shooting for a Tigers/Rockies WS. I've lived in both states and wouldn't mind seeing them duke it out.

I almost want the Yankees to win the WS. Maybe then people (like 28 owners) will admit that something needs to be done and makes it happen.

I guess that would be the silver lining.

As far as who I'd want, I'm probably pulling for the Dodgers and Twins to go to the World Series, and don't really care who wins as long as it's a well played series.

Well the Tigers screwed me over. Now I'm shooting for the Rockies to win it all against the Twins in a TV ratings nightmare. And now I need the Rox to make it to the NLCS for the big StubHub payday.
