David Price is really really good. We probably weren't going to win this game anyways; but it still doesn't change the fact that RR seems to have no ability to use his noggin in late game situations.

How the hell can you send 0-for-his-last-14 I haven't hit a ball hard in weeks Kotsay up in that situation? Lucroy has 7 bombs, if not Kottaras?

Kotsay must be released, he just has to be.

Kotsay for Lucroy is ridiculous. Use Kottaras if you insist on pinch hitting. I realize Kottaras would probably have hit in the pitchers spot, but ugh.

Definitely the most poorly managed game of the season. In the other cases there was at least an alternate explanation.

I normally don't get on the Roenicke bashing band wagon, but this was a pretty poorly managed game.

Agreed. I hadn't been overly upset at RR like several people here, but today is an exception.

When was the last time we won a day game during the week? It seems like it has been an eternity.

I will be very interested to see what RR's justification was for pinch hitting Kotsay there. My guess is he'll offer off the lame Left handed professional hitter excuse.

This is like the opposite of the game when Yost refused to pinch hit Kevin Mench when Geoff Jenkins was facing a left hander with the game on the line.

No power on the Bench is a killer ,RR will say he did not want to use his backup catcher since Nieves is no lomger on the Roster.

That would be a pretty stupid comment by Roenicke that I hope he would get called out on considering he brought Lucroy in for Nieves after Wolf was done pitching when there were only two catchers on the roster.

I think you can replace "power" with just about any positive baseball attribute (exception: grit) in the above post and the sentiment remains valid.

The Brewers have been terrible in day games for a long, long time. I have often wondered if our guys stay out too late on the night before day games. I think that i posted the same comment in 2007, when I believe we had a stretch where we lost 12 out of 13 Sunday afternoon games. As for Kotsay, I think Roenicke is rather familiar with Kotsay from when Kotsay was with the A's and for some reason he thinks this is still the 2004 Kotsay. I don't think that there is much that Kotsay can do that Mat Gamel can't. Plus, I think Gamel would be able to hit with runners in scoring position. I think we also need to take all sidearmers away from RR, similarly to the way you take dangerous toys away from a little kid. Personally, I liked Dillard better before we made him a sidearmer. We need to find a shortstop, a LOOGY, and maybe another set-up guy who can throw strikes as soon as he enters a game. I don't know if we have the talent or the financial resources to make these deals.

It's kind of hilarious to watch Betancourt AB's these days. Seems like he has been taking first pitches a lot more as of late. Of course, he just goes right back to hacking after that. That's why you can't really mandate plate discipline.

1-4 has reached 6 of 12 times; 5-8 is 1 for 12. I think that's just how it's going to be this year.

This is true against lefties. Against righties we have Morgan in the 2-spot and Hart at 6. Since we'll be facing a lot more righties than southpaws I don't really see it. The only consistent hole on the team is Betancourt and whenever Gomez plays. McGehee should at least have his moments, as well as Lucroy. Also, when 3 of the top 4 guys in the lineup are of MVP caliber I think the offense is just fine.

not to fuel the flames. but fwiw, i believe the bewers have scored 2 runs in the 1st inning vs each of our last 3 different opponents, and lost those games...heh, odd factoid.

Was at the game today. Really pissed that Dillard was in the game in the 7th against multiple lefties. Would've liked to see Hawkins there. Not sure what the deal is with how Roenicke uses him. He just seems to disappear for multiple days at a time. Should've went Hawkins, Loe, Ax to finish it. Also was even more pissed when Kotsay pinch-hit for Lucroy. If you want a HR there you gotta go with Kottaras. Pure stupidity in my opinion. Frustrating game.

Exhibit 245,677 in support of the contention that Wins and Losses are virtually worthless pitching stats:

Estrada had the best line of any Brewer pitcher today. He took the loss.
