Seems like an dream-scenario comp for Clark might be a guy like Bobby Abreu, who will only give you 20 HR but can put up a .400 OBP (note I said dream scenario)

Far from a scout, but Clark might be able to stay in CF for awhile but he does not look like a body type that will keep it up past his mid 20's

I read something pretty interesting about how the indians are developing pitching. They are heavy guys throw balls twice as having as part of their training, they are having guys get boosts in velocity and avoiding injury. I bet they think aiken has an arm they can protect.

Kiley McDaniel put a Hunter Pence comp on Trenton Clark. Seem similar in at least the fact the swing is somewhat unorthodox and he reportedly hits everything in sight.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

I am very happy that they selected a player with a rep for having a great eye at the plate and high OBP. I think I've seen enough free swingers in Brewers uniforms in the last 10 years to last a lifetime or two

How about Michael Brantley for Clark?

I'll take it!

Would be a fun outfield:

LF Clark

CF Harrison

RF Coulter

I'm coming around to the pick, the kid definitely has talent, should have gone higher, will probably sign right at slot, good pick. They didn't take the guy I wanted, so like my 15 month old my attitude changes when i dont get what I want, I should know better, Im excited for this pick!

To me the fact they passed on the college pitchers suggests they are looking to rebuild. They could have easily taken a pitcher hoping the could help by the end of next year.

Reed is actually a great comparison to Clark. similar tool set, reed has a better arm and clark is a better hitter overall. But, this comparison is why at first i wasnt the biggest fan, cause guys like reed have a hard time finding the bigs.

Clark might be able to talk t-shirt fashion with Braun:

Good point

Patrick, I think Brantley is a solid compare. Yes, the skills are right there, but will he develop more than average power, and which outfield spot fits him best? I see why you mentioned Brantley here.

Okay, a number of guys getting picked not on my list like Randolph/Naylor/Newman.

So now the Competitive balance pick my hopefuls to fall would be Dakota Chalmers or Peter Lambert.

Some clark buzz from earlier today, we're lucky he lasted to 15:

4. Rangers – Trenton Clark, CF, Richland HS (TX)

I’ve heard some very positive buzz on Clark to the point that I slid him up my board a couple spots. Texas has been a mystery all spring; other than taking Rodgers if he gets here, no one knows who Texas actually likes. I’m told it’s Clark and that he won’t get past the Cubs at 9 if Texas passes. Clark has been a hot name the last few weeks, with private workouts for the D’Backs, Rangers, Twins, Cubs and Rays, with three of those teams having their GMs at the workout. Texas likes Tate as an option here and would likely take Bregman if he’s here.

This draft, is exactly why I'm not high on SS. It's their Era. Correa's debut tonight and now 6 of the first 20 also SS selections. There's only 30teams, there's going to be 40 solid SS batters to have on your team in 4years I'm guessing. Think about it the Brewers have 3 right now and that's not including Rivera.

Just why draft these SS if they aren't wow like Swanson was, when you'll get a quality SS available on the Market.

People here are acting like this is the 90's or early/mid 2000's where if you played baseball, started in the OF and had a pulse, you hit 30 HR's and had an OPS over 800. I know it's not what people want to hear, but that just isn't the case anymore. Why are we stuck to this standard of evaluating what we think a young player's peak will be based on what really good numbers used to be? It's OK to draft a very good player in the first round, and this kid is only in HS. Who knows?
