Just what the Dr ordered. I love that we are playing the Reds now.

We have the second easiest schedule of the contenders. A WC is definitely reasonable.

Sal Romano has started 5 games against us the last two years. He has lost every single time. This year he has fared better, but we crushed him last year. Hopefully the streak continues.

Eric Thames is a combined 5 for 5 with 5 HR against Garrett and Stephenson. If he isn't available to start today, he should definitely be used as a pinch hitter against Garrett today if the situation arises. And Stephenson starts tomorrow, hopefully he can get in the lineup for that one.

I know it's a small sample, but with Broxton career 2 for 3 against Romano I would start him today and give either Cain or Yelich a day off. Also a small reward for the big hit yesterday. OF of Broxton, Braun, Thames. Then give Braun off tomorrow.

I'm not sure giving both of our .300 hitters the day off is appropriate when we are wanting to go on a little run here? Someone needs to get on base! Thames will already be replacing Braun today if Thames is healthy... so if we insist on Broxton getting a start it would be at the expense of Cain or Yelich which is fine if one of them needs a rest, but please not both?

They have plenty of off days to finish the year so I don't think Cain nor Yelich will need a day off. Broxton shouldn't get a start the rest of the year unless someone gets hurt. Late game defensive replacement and getting some ABs that way? Absolutely.

Off days coming Thursday and Monday. Don't think you really need to worry about those too much from here out for your top guys like Cain and Yelich. Those two should almost be a lock to play every day from here as long as they don't have a nagging injury.

Maybe I got a touch carried away by mistake there. Work Yelich or Cain in for one of those 3, or have Thames start for Aguilar who has clearly been slumping a bit and get one of those 2 out there.

Jesus is slashing .371/.463/.571 over the last 14 days (11 games). If that's clearly slumping, I hope everyone on this team goes on a slump. I'll take an OPS over 1.000.

Jesus is far from slumping anymore. 10/23 with 5 BBs in the last week or so. Thames has been the one doing the worst lately, but with his Reds history we're trying to force him in lineups. Plus he might be hurt or something with how he didn't pinch hit last night

Live BP went well for Joakim Soria. Threw 25 pitches. If he's feeling OK tomorrow it's likely he'll rejoin the team this weekend, says Craig Counsell.

Shaw. 2 in scoring position, 1 out, 2 strikes. You've absolutely got to at least go down swinging there. Come on. Know the situation. Understand the situation.
