Kind of odd. Weakness is lateral movement, which is a bad trait for a zone blocking C/G

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

When WR, TE, and CB were all a possibility, a utility offensive lineman isn’t exactly like Christmas morning. That being said, guard is a big question mark, as is Bulaga’s durability (and quality, at this point), so if this kid can solidify the o-line, that’s a win in my book. I’m willing to wait and see on this one.

I'm getting a feeling like with Pitts., Denver's pick was the Packers to be pick and we panicked and picked the next guy while not finding a trade to move down. Which would explain the aggressive move up in the 1st because the frustration of losing their guy.

Or maybe, just maybe, their board is different than yours.

Exactly! Just because you like a guy, or he may be rated higher than the guy they picked on someone's board, doesn't mean they made a bad selection or reached. I really liked Risner, but it doesn't mean the Packers were necessarily as high on him.

Wrong. When time was up, Gute spit out his coffee and hastily pointed to the board. Guy on the phone wasnt sure who he was pointing at, so just said "Jenkins" because it sounded like a football name.

No....just...no. I don't know how good these picks are or will turn out being, but I can say pretty confidently, the Packers didn't sit there slack jawed for an extended period of time and say, "bu..bu..but they stole the guy we wanted, oh well, just hurry up and turn in whoever!"

I'm just looking at the fact they took a Center and interior guy who they signed Billy Turner at or backup Bulage. Cole Madison is back. So I think using a 2nd round pick on a guy that is destined to play backup, when you a clear starter in Irv Smith waiting for you at a position of need. I like that they are adding a blocker for Rodgers and it sounds like he's a very decent pass blocker, I'm just venting because I want the team to win this season more than thinking long term. I think about what their big board must be and Smith had to right around Jenkins by 2 or 3 spots there. I'd just pick the starter over the backup/future starter who maybe grade 1 or 2 points better.

I don’t mind the Jenkins pick, but I was hoping they would have traded back to recoup some of the picks they surrendered yesterday to move up for Savage. There were still plenty of guys I liked on the board.

Doubt Smith pairs as a receiver with Rodgers better than Graham who’s had a year to mesh, and he’s not a better blocker than Lewis at this point. Declaring him an instant starter might be a stretch.

Not to mention that Jenkins could very well be starting this year at LG.

Or ... they don't like Irv Smith.

Jimmy Graham finished 8th in receptions and 9th in yards among TEs last year. He’s started all 16 games for the last 3 years. While no longer elite, he’s still a legitimate starting TE.

I’m warming up to this pick ... feels like he could be the super sub on the line this year until he settles in to a permanent role. Love the versatility.

Right. Maybe they want TE's who are 6'5 or so and Irv was just a bit too short. It's a fools errand to try and guess how many spots away he was on their board. We have absolutely no idea.

Most of our opinions are formed by mock drafts and combine times. Without watching these guys it's impossible to know how good they are. I certainly didn't think they'd take the 2nd best C/G prospect left on the board with all the skill players, but...they did.

It'd be nice to get Ridley's brother here or a guy like Layne out of Michigan St.

We need a smooth route runner and we still need another good, press corner.
