#HugWatch 2019

[Eye Black]

We can use this thread to post and speculate about on-going hug watches leading up to the 2019 trade deadline.

The biggest hug watch at the moment is Ken Giles who didn’t come in for the Blue Jays to close in the 9th inning of a 2-0 game with the Yankees (and then 2-1 with runners at the corners) today.

[Eye Black]

Lots of national writers were speculating about the possibility of a trade, but according to Jon Heyman...

Ken Giles has not been traded fwiw

[PeaveyFury]

I heard a rumor that his wife is pregnant, so take that FWIW.

[Ron Robinsons Beard]

Andrew Cashner was apparently just dealt to the Red Sox.

I heard a rumor that it's not his.

That would be an aggressive hug.

Got hurt with a massage.

[Brewcrewin07]

Burch Smith NOT starting for San Antonio tonight as originally scheduled...would have to be an injury situation for him to be coming back to Milwaukee

[LouisEly]

I'm sorry, but what is the Hug reference here and how does that relate to potentially being traded?

When a trade is happening, sometimes the first sign that it's a done deal is the player saying goodbye and hugging teammates and coaches in the dugout during the game.

[trwi7]

I think the likely scenario is Smith is getting called up as a fresh arm to replace Jackson.

He can't without an injury...he hasn't been down 10 days yet.

"Jay Jackson has been placed on the 10 day IL after stubbing his toe."

[brewmann04]

but jackson was our best reliever today?

[Brewcrewin07]

I could see them making up some injury for Burnes..Corbin Burnes has been placed on the 10 day IL with a case of the sucks.

[brewmann04]

Burnes goes down who comes up Williams or Wilson

[adambr2]

Wilson isn't on the 40, so Williams or Barnes.

Or bullpen savior Donnie Hart!

Hoping it’s the other Williams, Devin, but with Stearns depth compulsion overriding talent, not gonna hold my breath.

I didn't know where else to post this. Is this trade wildly insane for the Astros or is it just me?

Um...wow. I would expect this would be the package to get Syndergaard or Bauer but Robbie Ray? Maybe the Brewers could offer them Hader for that package.

For those who are Twitter-less, it’s from Ken Rosenthal:

“The #Royals have pulled Martin Maldonado from their game. Have been working on a trade. Team not yet known”
