Garrett Mitchell with a hit and a run in his first game as a pro
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Shaw has looked almost in slow motion on the last two balls hit his direction.

Get your butt down and move your feet and get in front of the ball ... be a professional!

I didn't see McCutchen's first homer, but I assume it was a pitch very similar to his second homer?

I didn't see the second homer, but the first was a fast ball on the outside edge and he hammered it to right center.

In 12 career plate appearances versus Eric Lauer, Andrew McCutchen is now 7-for-10 with a triple, 2 home runs, 2 walks.

Rarley do I do this so early, but I'm done for the night.

Not fun baseball.

So the Brewers put 4 men on base in the top of the 1st and they score 1 run. Almost the bare minimum (1 on, DP, then 3 on = zero). Since the 1st and 2nd outs were on strikeouts they literally scored the bare minimum. That's one impressive offense...

That’s the Brewer way. I’d be willing to bet they are the worst team in baseball scoring runs from 3rd with less than two outs, or bases loaded with less than two outs

Seriously, this is little league nonsense. Was that even that bad of a throw? No, it wasn't. Vogelbach needs to move his lazy feet.

I would not be surprised if this team is due for a large correction in May. The roster they've been running with is basically a cross between an AAA team and MLB team. The winning rate they've managed just isn't sustainable over the long haul with this current group.

Shaw’s misplay cost them 4 runs, unfortunately.

Yep, LITTLE things like fundamentals make a BIG difference!

Found Coach Cooper!

Vogelbach is absolutely terrible. He can't defend at a major league level and the one tool he is here for has been a nonexistent one this year. He generally gets ignored because he's fat and jolly and reminds everyone of their beer guzzling buddy when he probably doesn't belong on an MLB roster much less hitting 3rd and starting in an MLB game.

I’m glad there are competent professional’s running my favorite team instead of knee jerk reactionaries. The whole team is scuffling but these are pro players at the major league level and 99% of them would have jobs with another pro club if the Brewers suddenly dropped them

Reality is about to slap this team upside the head. Injuries suck but beyond that they just don't create offense at any kind of winning level. Mets fired their hitting coaches yesterday and they look like the old Oakland bash brothers compared to this.

Good grief.

He's a below replacement player for his career. He is the literal definition of a replaceable player. Would he find a job somewhere else? I don't know, but I know they could plug and play just about any alternative at 1B and be just as fine.

Guys like Vogelbach are a dime a dozen. It's harsh but true.

That’s not true either. Only Detroit has scored less than the Mets and that is with their stars, Lindor, Conforto, et al mostly healthy and available all year
