Grayson Allen might be a really nice addition this year.

DDV brought defense and hustle galore - but his scoring was erratic. He would be great for a week or two - and then just disappear offensively.

I don't think anyone expects Allen to offer the defense of Donte - but if he can be a consistent outside shot - he could really add a lot of value.

Will be fun to watch.

Jordan Nwora wakes up in the morning and learns he scored another 14 points in his sleep.

I watched a bit of the game Saturday and he was impressive on his shot. Not sure if his D is up to snuff, but I can imagine a pretty decent role of him on the team this year.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I am intrigued by Mamu.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I agree - he is going to have a lot of open looks. Expecting a pretty big year from him.

Can't believe the regular season starts tomorrow already. Raise that banner!!!

Not too concerned with results this year, just hope everyone is healthy & ready to go come playoff time to defend the title.

Bobby, DDV & Semi didn't play at all in preseason & Hood only played ten minutes, so start of the season rotation probably looking something like...

Jrue / Hill

Grayson / Pat

Khris / Nwora

Giannis / Thanasis

Brook

Might be some backup center minutes for Mamu early on if Bobby & Semi are both out for a bit to begin with.

Since it worked last year, I’m going to post every couple weeks about Middleton not being a good enough #2 to win a championship. You’re welcome!

Nwora and Thanasis look noticeably improved. Granted it’s against a Nets team that doesn’t really look interested in playing defense. If they can play some solid regular season minutes it’ll help the work load of the starters who logged a ton of playoff and Olympic minutes.

This has been my position all off-season but I feel emboldened on it now even though yeah, it's just one meaningless game.

The Bucks threat in the East won't be Brooklyn. They are too much of a mess. Kyrie is a mess, Harden won't be fit and healthy, the rest of the team just isn't good. It's KD, which will keep them competitive, but basically what his teams in OKC were.

The threat will be Miami or an upstart Indiana with Carlisle or some under the radar squad that gels. I just don't see this Nets team beating the Bucks. It's all flash and no substance and I just think the Bucks will be better than they were last year.

Yeah. I think Miami will be the team that emerges from that 2nd tier as the team to jump up into the Bucks / Nets tier.

Lowry / Robinson / Butler / PJ / Bam is a pretty well rounded starting five. If Herro takes things seriously this year he could be an interesting 6th man. Oladipo should give them a boost at some point if he can ever get his health right. Plus Spoelstra always seems to get the most out of his team.

Initial reactions. Giannis looks even better. Carries himself like he knows he's the man, not trying to prove he's the man. Just controlled dominance. This roater is incredibly deep when healthy, even the two-way players are serviceable. That will help later, plenty of trade bait when they target a specific player they want for the post season.

Hopefully Jrue's injury is not to serious otherwise not much to complain about for this game.

Heel contusion. Clean MRI. Day-to-Day. I say 2 weeks. Those can be real tender and tricky.

Just need him to be a #3 behind Air Nwora.

The Knicks and the Bulls are both very interesting squads as well. Ultimately, neither have what it takes to upend the Bucks though.

Agreed. Whatever the Bulls were doing hadn't worked for awhile now so gotta give them credit for making some moves. Should at least elevate them from the dregs of the East to the playoff hunt. Kemba could give the Knicks a nice boost too if his knee is right.

My best guess at East tiers would be something like...

ECF: MKE | BKN

Playoffs: MIA | BOS | ATL | PHI

Play-in: NYK | IND | CHI | TOR

Lottery: CHA | WAS | ORL | CLE | DET

The Nets should eventually figure things out, Kyrie will get vaccinated, and they are the only group that could seriously threaten a healthy Bucks team in a 7-game series. The rest of these teams might over-achieve enough to become the latest “Bucks in 6” victim like the Hawks last year.

I’d like to see the Bucks get the 1-seed this year.

I highly doubt Kyrie ever gets vaccinated. A more likely scenario is the mandate is changed or lifted at some point. Or...he's traded for someone that helps. But I don't see that guy backing off and getting the vaccine.

But even so, I still think that group finds some other way to self-destruct, whether it's injuries or just falling apart mentally. I also think the Bucks are better than last season.

Didn't get a chance to fully watch the game, but first time I saw Allen I thought we somehow had Merrill back on the team. Nice win to start the year and make a statement as well.
