Bucks 2021-2022 season thread

Allen has earned his reputation and deserves no benefit of the doubt.

The Bucks should feel free to move him at the trade deadline too.

After watching the playoffs last season my mind tells me a healthy team is more important than regular season wins but some reason I am a little worried they can just turn it on. Would really annoy me if they and the Nets ended up as the 4/5.

If you guys weren't Bucks fans, and imagine for a second our lineup is playing in, say, Boston ... you would feel like you've most likely alway felt about the NBA; that you know Boston is the best team in the conference and they will turn on an extra gear when they have to.

It's just not fun to watch your own team jog through the regular season, so it creates heightened anxiety.

Also, Grayson is dirty. That specific play is fairly meh to me. A hard flagrant foul but there was honestly nothing about it that made me go "Wow, what a nasty play." I know exactly who Grayson Allen is and what he's about, but the play in question is kind of meh to me.

This is the exact take on Grayson I just don't understand. He made some boneheaded stupid decisions as a college kid. He tripped some guys in the flow of play and was rightfully called out for it. The One game suspension was for a hard foul that in any other era is just that: a hard foul. BUT, now the Grayson Allen brigade is coming out of all types of woodwork to claim they know he's a dirty player. Which is wild, again to ME, as he literally has been extremely and I mean extremely low on any type of noticeable hard foul/flagrant/Technical foul trend in the NBA. Like non-existent.

My question is to reactions like this is: How do you '...know exactly who Grayson Allen is and what he's about...'? I find it entirely perplexing. This is a claim that tends to say you've been buddies with him since grade school or know his family or played against him for yearssss. It's just, well, strange.

Also, as a Bucks fan, given what I've seen from DDV since his return: I absolutely want nothing to do with moving Grayson Allen. He's exactly what the Starting Unit needs. A shooter, a decent defender, an unselfish player. If anything, i'd like to see Grayson get more opportunities.

This is obviously just my opinion. Means nothing in the grand scheme of things. But, I remain amazed at the reputation that follows Grayson because he played at Duke (a Team and Program I really do NOT like with a Head Coach I find extremely over-rated) and because of some utterly stupid emotional maneuvers as a college player. The only retort I hear about his NBA games was a stupid sequence of plays in his rookie League Summer League. I just don't get it. And, I guess, I'm going to continue to not get it. :tired

He punches people in the crotch. And trips people when the official isn't looking. Nobody is coming out of the woodwork. This is the same take most people had here the day he was signed.

Okey dokey. Fair enough. I will simply agree to disagree. Given the current state of the Bucks roster, I’m glad he’s on the Team.

I still think the Bucks are contenders and have yet to play their best basketball, but my fear is that Giannis could miss 10 games and the Bucks then go 2-8 during that stretch and wind up in a play-in game. The optimist in me says they’re only 1.5 games out of first place. The realist in me says they’re only 3.5 games above the 7th seed.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. I'm glad he's on the team, but he's the kind of player you can only like when he's on your team.

Took Bud deploying an almost playoff-esque minutes distribution...

Giannis (38) Jrue (36) Khris/Bobby (35) Grayson (32) Pat (25) DDV (20) Wes (14) Sandro (4)

...but the Bucks start February off with a win over the Wiz.

Giannis with a casual 33/15/11 triple double after not scoring in the first quarter.

With that triple double Giannis passes Jordan on the all time list for triple doubles (29).

Giannis ranks 18th all time now.

I heard and interview and it seemed like the Bucks really needed/wanted this one.

Middleton is an All-Star again. I thought if the Bucks had a chance at a second All-Star, it would be Holiday.

Full Roster:

https://www.nba.com/news/2022-all-star-reserves-announced

It definitely should have been Holiday. He is one of the most under-recognized players in the NBA. I am glad for Khris as he has now entered the yearly ASG consideration after several years of snubs and lack of recognition. BUT, there is no denying: Jrue has just flat out been the better and more integral player for the Bucks this season.

I’ll be the first to admit I was skeptical about trading 4 #1s for Holiday, but even if he didn’t suit up another game for the Bucks, the trade will have been worth it because he was the missing link on their championship team. At least he still got the Team USA recognition and a gold medal.

Heck, not just the picks but he only had a year left on his contract. It could just as easily have meant the Bucks as a middle-road team without many picks to bolster the roster.

I didn't really love it at the time, either. But I guess I can still not really like the trade even though it worked out great.

Nice game from Bobby last night, wow. 6-8 from 3. Back up to 3rd in the east, and a game out of the 1-seed. Some team is going to turn on the jets down the stretch and distance themselves from the pack. Like last year, I don't view the 1 seed as hyper-critical. Would be nice, for sure.... but eh.... Just get in on the top half of the bracket.

Apparently, the Bucks might have an offer on the table for Dennis Schröder.

The Boston Celtics’ priority, according to multiple sources, is to clear salary to save on the luxury tax. There are two offers on the table for Dennis Schröder according to multiple sources, one from the Milwaukee Bucks and another from the Chicago Bulls.

If true, I am unsure if I'm enthused about this move. There seems to be a reason Dennis is repeatedly sent packing. He has offensive talent, but he also is a wee bit of a chucker. It would have to depend on what else is going on in the proposed trade (if it is even on the table). And, obviously, they need a back-up Big they can depend on in the post-season. These 10 days are fine and all but they certainly don't accomplish anything meaningful if Brook has setbacks.

Going to be an interesting Deadline and Buy-Out period for the Buckaroos. They don't have much to work with in terms of contracts, players, and assets and are $157M in the Salary Tax. But, they can find some integral pieces in the margins.

I haven't seen a deal that makes more sense than DDV, Nwora & Semi to ORL for Mo Bamba as Brook insurance. Bamba is also an RFA after the year so he could be a long term option too.

Hook it up, Hambone.

If you're trying to make sense of trading for Schroeder, the Bucks rank 29th in bench scoring all while trying to keep their starters around 30 minutes per game. Schroder could be looked at as one of the most impactful bench scorers the Bucks could acquire with their limited assets. That's not me saying I like Schroeder, just what the thinking might be. Budenholzer also coached him for 4 years in Atlanta so there's familiarity for both sides. As for adding another guard instead of a big, I would presume this means they're confident in Lopez's return AND/OR they have a target in the coming buyout market that they're very confident in landing. Just because another big is a clear need, it doesn't mean the Bucks won't try to address other weaknesses as well. Easily could see a piece added via trade and another via the buyout market.
