England must place curses on their ships with their names. 107 years ago today, a British ship named Formidable was hit by a German U-42 sub. The Formidable sunk into the waters of the English Channel, and 547 lives were lost.

I worked for about an hour or so this morning before I realized our company is off today.

Keep it random, keep it pointless, keep it dumb.

That would be the title of my autobiography if I could convince publishers there is a current underserved market for books like that.

Autobiographies for Dummies?

The Kwik Trip cult is a weird one. Especially considering the main thing there, gas, sucks.

[sarcasm]Kwik Trip sells gas? They just keep adding new things![/sarcasm]

Your first mistake was thinking gas was the main thing.

Yeah, I stop there 4-5 times a week, and never get gas.....ever.

She films the videos on her iPhone and edits the footage in iMovie. Then Kwik Trip adds an animated intro and outro, she said. Berger is a "paid influencer." Her payments? Kwik Trip apparel, gas gift cards and more.

Ok... sounds a little weird, but she is getting paid to do it. Not sure if it is cultish, but she is using this a chance to see Wisconsin, too. Not sure I would do it unless they paid me a bunch of money.

Over 1 per day does seem like a lot but considering there are 4 KTs in Racine alone, I could probably knock out a good portion just blowing through Kenosha, Racine and Waukesha counties in a short span.

Forgive me for potentially being ignorant, but is one station's fuel really better than another's? I was kind of always under the assumption that most stations were supplied with fuel by a few major suppliers, and they all essentially get and sell the same product? Perhaps I'm WAY off base ...

The article says her record is 52 KTs in 1 day. It doesn't make any sense to me, but for some reason I'm glad there's someone out there doing it.

All of the gas is the same however there can be more additives added to it which makes it different well kind of.

The reason I don't get KT gas has nothing to do with additives or quality.

I get all my gas at Meijer.

I have the Meijer credit card, which takes .10 off per gallon.

There is a KT directly across from the Meijer I go to. Meijer is usually a couple cents cheaper per gallon, then the 10 cents off per gallon that I get for having the Meijer credit card makes it a no brainer.

That was my first thought as well.

I suppose if you have some high-performance engine or something it might matter.

This is part of it. Many claim Kwik Trip is basically the worst compared to say a BP or Shell. A lot of self proclaimed gas experts say their gas sucks and some claim their car always runs poorly when they get Kwik Trip gas. Of course, I usually take Facebook experts with a grain of salt.

More notable is Kwik Trip was pretty well known for getting water into their gas that obviously causes major problems for a car. Mechanics were basically like, "Yah, every issue I see with water in gas is someone who filled up at Kwik Trip."

Kwik Trip was pretty good about paying for people's gas and any needed car repairs, so at least they had that going for them. I haven't heard of an instance in quite a while though...so maybe they have fixed whatever the problem was.

Anecdotally, I’ve heard Kwik Trip gas cuts your fuel efficiency. I’ve tracked my mileage after filling up at Kwik Trip and noticed reduced MPG, but it’s hard to say if the reduction was statistically significant. Not every week of driving is the same in terms of highway miles, city miles, traffic, idling, etc.

The additives help but unless you are running a sports car or a high performance car you shouldn't notice the difference. After a few years you may start to notice like you have a bunch of gunk buildup in your engine.

Do elaborate, please. I'm quite fond of the new Kwik Trip in Kenosha right off of I-94 & Hwy 50 as I believe they are the only gas station at that exit that offers E15 gas. My understanding is that E15 burns cleaner, thus less CO2 emissions, in addition to offering slightly more fuel efficiency and power and being slightly cheaper.

I go to the BP at that exit on the way up to WI as my Mariano's/Kroger-chain fuel rewards knocks as much as $0.30/gallon off of the price, but on the way back I get E15 at that Kwik Trip before crossing into the much more heavy gas-taxed IL.

I used to buy gas from Casey's in Iowa near my in-laws, but my mini-van would throw a check engine light every-single-time I did. Nothing serious that we couldn't drive it (but a major panic the first time it happened). It has been several years back so unfortunately, I don't even remember the code. But my van did NOT like that gas.

It had no issues with KT though.

Maintaining the fuel tanks is a big issue with gas stations, but more often it is a problem with XYZ gas station and not Kwik Trip as a brand. Not like they are storing it any differently than others.

As far as gas goes, I buy ethanol-free as much as possible. Better fuel economy, better for your vehicle, and better for the environment.

How is it better for the environment? Everything I read says adding ethanol results in less emissions.

It also costs more, so does it really give you a net better fuel economy?

Happy I have an EV so I don't have to care about gas quality and prices anymore.

I'd love to get one in 2-3 years, but the ones with a long enough range to get to my family in cold weather might be too big to fit in the narrow, short garage I share with my downstairs neighbor. The Cadillac Lyriq looks like it's only 8" longer and 2" wider than my Lincoln MKX, so that might be an option, but I'll need one with a real-world cold-weather range of over 200 miles. Depending on where the front doors of the Lyriq are located, my neighbor might not be able to open her storage unit. Whether I can fit a charger in the garage is another thing.

That being said, now that I'm working from home I only put on ~5000 miles last year. I was able to go a year without an oil change. I spent less than $1000 on gas.
