Seriously, how is this even possible? You should be able to protect a 33 point halftime lead on accident. I guess that's what happens when you play prevent football for thirty minutes. Maybe if Irsay had hired an actual NFL coach...

EDIT: I just remembered the Colts have Matt Ryan as quarterback. He knows a thing or two about blowing insurmountable leads.

He's going to have two of them in the top 10 list after today

He'll also have the distinction of being the quarterback of teams that blew the largest leads to lose in both the regular season and Super Bowl. Not saying this is all his fault. Far from it. It's just not something I would like my legacy to be defined.

Unbelievable. It absolutely defies all logic. I would say if there was any chance of Irsay dropping the interim from Jeff Saturday it's gone now, but we are talking about Jim Irsay after all.

This Vikings team reminds me of the 2019 Packers. Keep on winning games that they shouldn’t have. I’m guessing the outcome will be the same. Getting their doors blown off in the Playoffs.

What I learned from that game is the Vikings are overrated and Jeff Saturday is a bad coach.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I already knew both of those things.

Prevent D only prevents you from winning.

Matt Ryan didn't look good.  Anything over 10 yards wasn't on target and several of them under were off.

But wow, they went conservative on offense and defense...  blah.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Like I said, prevent football. I'll never understand why teams take their foot off the gas unless they're up 21 at the two minute warning.

I don't even think Irsay WANTS the Colts to win. You're not hiring Jeff Saturday if you're goal is to win as many games as possible.

It was just a gimmick to get through the year IMO. Saturday is a smart enough guy, but there is so much that goes into being a HC, this was to get Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Levis...(Levis is physically so similar to Luck, if he's half as smart, he could be a stud).

Irsay had Peyton, then Luck....now it's Brissett, Wentz and Ryan. I get the tank job.

I completely understand it. You're just trying to make them throw the ball in front of you and make plays. The Colts were just stupid. Taunting penalties after big plays, other penalties to keep the drive going and then they were still giving up big plays.

I don't think it was the soft coverage and trying to keep the Vikings in front of the Colts that did them in, it was the level of stoopid on one side in the 2nd half.

Kick the FG, run the ball more...whatever...the Colts are just morons.

And very possibly by the same team. SF looks really good.

They're almost making me rethink how you should build a team. They don't have a great OL. They have a dominant LT and then solid OL.
But they've got a great front 7 and they have so many playmakers, you just can't cover them.

On the other hand, the Eagles have a dominant OL and DL. They've also got the playmakers.

I really don't know if those teams are great teams or if the NFC is just so...bad this year, but I am pretty sure the Vikings aren't a real threat to win anything this year.

That's a fair point. I wasn't watching the game, just following on gamecast so I didn't take much consideration into that. Playing conservative football for 30 minutes is still football malpractice though.

A couple of pretty good overtime thrillers to start Sunday. Always a great day when the Cowboys lose, especially in pick six fashion.

Loved watching cowboys lose like that but that was actually a bad result for what is left of the Packers playoff chances. Not that I think the Packer will win out but I just like doing the math this time of year and it looks like a finish of 9-8 in a tie with Detroit would come down to strength of victory tie breaker. Throwing out the division games as they would be equal for both team here is the current W-L of the other projected wins by both teams:

Det - 32-34-2

GB - 35-32-2

Of course these numbers will change still this afternoon and down the stretch but Detroit beat Jax and we beat Cowboys so that was a 2 win swing.

No...it is not.

And the Vikings did turn the ball off a few times...and they STILL blew it. 33-0.

No...we'll win out. And still miss the playoffs. That's...just how this seems to be trending. That'd be the worst possible outcome.

I’ve seen this type of defensive pass defense in every Packer game this year. That is exactly Their game plan.

Yeah...well, the Packers defense sucks and we haven't had 33-0 leads.

But the whole premise behind the idea is to not give up big chunks. The Colts couldn't even do that...or get off the field after a huge 5 yard loss on 3rd down due to taunting, roughing on a potential pick, another roughing.

I'm fairly convinced the Colts have little interest in winning these games.
