Williams was pretty darn good from 1st week of June until he hurt his hand last year:

HarryDoyle and CheezWizHed... Thanks!!!

I think the reason is to prevent the runner from "forcing" the rest of the runners from advancing.  Otherwise, Narvaez "drops" strike 3 at this feet, then throws to 3rd-2nd-1st for an easy triple play.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The Brewers as a whole were pretty pedetrian for the first couple months last year...

One reason why we don't score enough is that we don't play ANY "small ball."   2d & 3d with nobody out and you don't score?!!? Inexcusable.   I'd give other examples but I'm cooking and drinking (while cussing at the 'radio').  Let's put the pen in a dodgy position....bughghghghghg.

How much evidence will Counsell need before he has a plan other than 8th Inning Guy™?

5, 6 maybe 7 years.

Condensed spring training means you might see a lot of wonky pitching stats early in the year. I am not concerned.

You gotta keep going to Devin because you need him. Period. But maybe he takes over the 7th and Box/Gott handle the 8th for the time being. Gott has such a violent release, it’s awesome to see in person.

So, not only have the Cardinals cut the lead to one, but now they have the heart of their order coming up in the 9th.

Hader is going to have his work cut out for him facing that string of Brewer killers.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The Bucks playoff game is on Bally sports? If that is not a clear sign that too many teams make the playoffs,  I'm not sure what is.

TNT I believe. Bally just does pre and post i think.

I choose to lean into this observation.

Just as much evidence as he needs to move Yelich out of the 3 spot. I really think this goes back to Counsell’s last year as a player when the Roenicke kept on playing Craig when he was going through his 0-52 streak. I believe he thinks he is “ paying it back“.

Sun/Shade is our friend.

Another day where Yelich doesn’t hit a ball out of the infield. His metrics all say he’s hitting the ball hard and barreling up a ton of pitches but the eye test says his bat speed looks rough and he can’t drive the ball. 1-15 with 2BB’s and 6KK’s in his last four games.
