I honestly do not understand why Stroman signed with the Cubs... I mean, I get it because "money" but why would anyone in his late prime years sign with the Cubs right now?

Especially after spending your career in Toronto and NY....I mean, I could kind of understand if he chased the money of the Northside of Chicago after spending his entire career in Minnesota and KC or something like that?

The thing is he already made a bunch of money,. It seems weird to chase maybe a couple of million more to play for the Cubs given their current state. Hell, at that point, were the Angels not in the mix? They always have money and at least you get to play with Ohtani and Trout.

Is Woodruff now our 5th best starter?

Maybe 6th?

Throw the damn ball over the damn plate

That is the thing that will keep Cousins from being much more than he is right now.

That delivery is always going to be tough to harness.

Despite Cousins' minor struggles thus far, I'm willing to give him a lot of leeway to figure it out in the back-end of the pen. Stuff is absolutely filthy, just a matter of throwing strikes and getting ahead of hitters.

I agree. At this point, I don't see a reason why he can't keep struggling through his issues. This rotation is more than rock-solid, they don't need multiple swingmen. If you can stash a struggling pitcher for easy spots, go for it.

Meh, a boring take. Yeah, he's an injury risk... he's an old dude. But he was also incredibly resilient before 2020.

A boring take?

As someone who has been a Brewers fan my entire life, and as someone who has seen Cain's career as a Brewer since day one of his current contract, what I said isn't so much of a "take" as it is highly probable.  He will spend a great deal of time on the IL, and you can paint it any way you want, but he is not, will not, and can't be worth the 15 million + we are paying him this year.

What does his incredible resiliency before 2020 have to do with 2022?  I mean, that's 3 years ago.

It may be a "boring take" to you,  but to those of us who have watched him play day in and day out the past 5 seasons, he can't be relied on to do much more than make an occasional great play in the outfield these days...

He needs to work on his mechanics they are all over the place.  He also overthrows his fastball causing it to be extremely erratic and he basically has no idea where it is going when he does this.

Once Cousins figures out his mechanics he could be a devastating late inning reliever.

So did one of them have a bad start on the 26th, one on the 25th, 24th....  Why June 27th? I'm sure you don't know. I always find the random line in the sand odd.

Yelich & Renfroe back to back

This is fun

Amazing how bats wake up all at once

Yeah, and Adames had one before them that hit the top of the wall...

Offense is fun!

He’s electric for sure

Who do they send down or DFA?

And he never would have signed with us for 3 years and $50 million...we had to give an affordable-ish extra year+ on the back end of the contract  in order to get the front end of the contract.
