And still more of Alexander!! Jeez, we're off for the next 4 days, is there no one that could maybe used a little practice pitching? I'd be totally PO'd if I was Jason.

No worries.  The Giants have relaxed.  Being up 7-1 to the Brewers is like being up 5 touchdowns with the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter and you have the ball and the other team has no timeouts.

Are they even keeping fans in the seats though? We have the 5th largest drop in attendance from 2019 to 2022 (as of June 30 both years). The top two are Oakland and Washington which make complete sense. Just not sure why a first place team, such as it is (and they were playing better two+ weeks ago), should show such a drop-off. Could spell additional problems for the franchise down the line.

Excellent post.  If I were Stearns, this is the trend that would keep me up at night.

This last offseason was the time to do it when we still were going to have all their best pitchers. It’s obvious they aren’t going to take that approach now, instead they will “stay competitive” to keep people in the seats and hope for a playoff push, but really there won’t be much of a chance to really make a deep run in the playoffs.

Remember Attanasio on opening day going on and on about how McCutchen wasn't in the budget and how lucky the fans were that they went out of the way to sign him.

Small market teams like Milwaukee need the team to be playing well to get butts in the seats.  This team has been no fun to watch for a while now.  These kind of performances can get people fired even if you are leading a crappy division.

The poor defense has been probably the biggest disappointment of the first half.

Considering that this was the new “pitching and defense first” Milwaukee Brewers, yes, it is.

Brewers are missing a perfect chance to score 3-4 runs and pad their stats so it looks like they have an average offense.

Stop being so negative have you seen the exit velocity on some of the ground balls.

Giants don't seem to have a problem pouring it on.

Alexander is very much like the batting practice they see every day before the games start.

This team is a dumpster fire.

12-15 in June

Soon to be 6-9 in July

18-24 since June 1st. That’s .429 baseball. Is it any wonder nobody is coming to the ballpark?

I hope with everything in me that Stearns does NOT trade prospects to try & patch this sinking ship of a team … hoping that a few acquisitions will do the trick

Anyone who takes off their “homer” glasses can see that our issues are far greater than a few injuries

This team is at best mediocre & has no chance of winning in the postseason

I’m so tired of all those who defend the Brew Crew & try to point out that it is a long season

It is actually easy to see that we are “average” in an awful division

This team will NOT get hot at the right time & become the Braves from last year

I hope we keep our prospects … I wish we would sell off a few players & acquire more prospects

Am I alone? Does anyone truly “believe” that Milwaukee is a good team with a fighting chance of winning anything come October?

I simply cannot get there … this has been an incredibly disappointing season to date

Its a Seinfeld reference about Jason Alexander's character George Costanza.

I almost replied that it was a reference to Doyle Alexander then I realized that I dinked then I realized how old I am with that reference.

Yeah, he should be mad at the one team that gave him a chance at the major league level. He was never very good and we pretty much knew major regression was coming. He was able to smoke and mirrors his way to a pension.

I would definitely be a seller myself, not that we have all that much that teams would want. I'd have traded Hader in the off-season to try to improve the moribund offense. Certainly would now. I would also consider trading Woodruff too. Either now or the offseason.

Too bad he isn't Doyle and we could flip him for Smoltz.

Burnes could bring us a decent haul.

Halfway there with 2 innings to go and the Giants using the back end of their bullpen.  That's a recipe for brewer offensive excellence.

Brewers are still at 75 % to make playoffs and 66% to win division.    People who follow all these predictive and analytical stats as gospel is just pure folly

i do think it drives people away from the game.
