We don’t need both Milner & Suter

I choose Milner

I hope Suter moves into management soon when Cousins & Houser return

Suter is making $2.7mil this year and is Arby eligible next year. Love him and he will get another shot with another team, but I would agree I would want him in the dugout or front office immediately when he decides to hang it up.

With that said, seems an obvious place to save some money and go with a younger guy next season. Boushley gets lefties out at a great rate in AAA and can go multiple innings ... he is a cheap internal option.

Boushley has a .678 OPS-A vs. LHB in AAA this year.

Suter has a .630 OPS-A vs. LHB in the majors this year.

Counsell is finally saving his best relievers for extras.

Williams likely not available today due to pitching three games in a row this weekend and the last two in Pittsburgh.

I'm not doubting you at all, but those were not the numbers I had seen. Where did you get those if I can ask?

Makes sense - still nerves getting the best of some of us tonight I think.

I believe his friendship with Counsell makes him safe all of this year regardless of his stats

Williams didn’t pitch Saturday, but it still would have been 4 times in 5 days.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

My bad. Saturday slipped my mind cause I didn't end up watching that game. But yeah, need a day of rest after that usage. Hopefully we can stay away from using him tomorrow so we can have him ready for a big St. Louis series.

Fair enough. I just saw lefties were hitting sub .225 against him. So he gets them out at a good rate but when they hit him ... it has meaning.

Reasons for optimism:

1) Peralta is closer to full effectiveness.

2) Nice game for the bullpen.

3) Mikolos got destroyed against the Rockies (2.2 IP, 14H, 10r), and if he's back to mediocrity that means a couple less wins going forward than if he continued to pitch like he did earlier in the year.

4) 5R on only 7H without any HR.

Still. I don't understand why no Rogers here with two lefties due up.

Rodgers got a cortisone shot in his knee…….sounds like he will be fine but wasn’t available tonight

Boushley is a AAAA player (or will be once he gets a cup of coffee with a major league team). Nothing wrong with him as an emergency option for a few games and a dozen innings, but he should be in no ones plans for the future. No guarantee he'll be back next year.

He's also a RHP, so not a good replacement for Suter, even though he has consistently had reverse splits.

to be fair, one of his appearances was only one pitch.
