We could have 2 MVP yelichs and not be as good as the dodgers on paper. This team has the best gm in sports, the best farm, the most money...naturally the roster is just stupid good. Everyone in their lineup is a multi all star and all their pitchers are sub 3 era.

Maybe this is nostalgia speaking, but in 2018 it felt pretty neck and neck. I think we even had the better regular season record. I guess I was saying the gap has widened significantly since then.

I agree that Andrew Friedman is the best President/GM in sports but rolling into 2022 with Craig Kimbrel as his closer was really, really dumb. Even dumber was leaving him there.

Absolutely no reason not to let Hiura play it out from here on out. The guy has sucked for two years but unlike other made changes to get better. You need to see what you have. You are going nowhere. Cutch will be gone next year. Explain to him that he is welcome to stay till the end but his playing time is getting slashed.

He leads the team in OPS and murders righties. No reason he shouldn't be playing every game vs righties.

LA is on another planet right now compared to the Brewers. +251 run differential compared to the Brewers at +31.

I felt like 2018 was an even fight. 2022--nope.

No

they won’t.

No guarantee they'll play everyone this tough, but they've played very good baseball and battled arguably the best roster baseball has seen in at least 20 years that is also playing extremely well right now got one win out of three... while keeping the other 2 close. With burnes tomorrow we just might split the series...

Not gonna disagree, not all GMs bat 1.000..And he should get away with it considering the rest of the roster

The dodgers have gotten way better since. The lineup is much better than the 2019 lineup. In 2019 they were very good, but platoon heavy. They didn't have anyone like mookie/Freeman/trea.

It’s slipping away

3 games back of STL

2 back of SD

missed opportunities night in & night out

we haven’t had a good offensive showing in a while

We have one more game against a sub 3 era starter and then we go to Chicago, so this weekend we should score more.

Reminded of my favorite movie, "Goodfellas". When Henry Hill is bailed out of jail & feels he's getting shot outside the police station, the narration goes "This is the bad time". The offense is struggling big time, and not to excuse that, but at the same time they're not catching breaks at all on batted balls. Just the worst of both worlds. Keep pitching & defending the way they have been lately. If you've done that all along, you're maybe tied or even still in first (week of the trade deadline, looking at you).

Unfortunately tonite was a perfect opponent for Gonsoulin, as if he needed any help. Uses aggressiveness against you. I wonder if he's had an easier pair of ABs all year than his two confrontations with Taylor.

The positive other than obviously Lauer to me was Feliciano. Hopefully a preview of the type of competing we'll see from the prospects coming behind him. His last two ABs were absolutely terrific.

The frustration from fans is justified. Hafta say though, I read some of the comments & have to take a second look at the calendar. I'm thinking it's September 20th.

I wouldn't bet on that. Cubs have better record than we do the last 10 games.

Totally agree. You have to be just tearing your hair out as an opposing GM or Mgr. Vets already on the team or acquired in deals that almost all work out. The money to at least be in on any free agent you have a mind to consider, or to lock anyone up that you want to keep. Oh, and if you need to trade for a piece, your farm system is better than just about everyone else's.

Would love to know if they inquired about Hader, and if so what was offered.

Lol this guy. They faced Washington, cincy, Washington. We faced Tampa, st Louis, dodgers. There's a reason we're contending and they aren't...

It's honestly wild how good they are at the farm. They trade a top 10 prospect and 2 more pop up. On top of that, they are 10 steps ahead of everyone in that they seem to know which guys will truly be quality major leaguers and which guys peak as a top prospect but won't cut it at the mlb level...and manage to maximize value quite often. It's frustrating as anything but you absolutely have to respect how good that franchise is run. It's hard to imagine them not being a world series contender at any point this decade.

Point noted. You remind me of Bc82. Let's see how the weekend goes.

We went 1-5 vs Cincy and Pittsburgh 2 weeks ago.

There are zero easy games for this team.

When you’re 81-35 you can afford to be patient with a veteran player.

Come playoff time I trust Roberts to use the best pitchers available and not be tied to Kimbrel as a closer.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

True, but the Cubs are also leading the season series head to head against the Brewers. So there is no reason to expect that the two series against them the next two weekends will be easy.

Yeah.    People just aren’t getting it.    The brewers have a lot of losses left       Alot

You expect people who are fans of the Brewers to not have any hope or optimism? Come on.

I get it.   I do     But at some point the team has to show something g to be optimistic about.     There is literally nothing

People are getting excited about staying within a run of this team or that while we keep losing 2 games in the standings

they are under water in the standings and every team above them is better.   That’s just the reality of the situation.   Throw in the face that they have tough games on the schedule too

I’m not saying the Brewers necessarily have a lot of losses left.

I’m just pointing out  the reality that the Brewers haven’t been beating up on even the bad teams recently and haven’t shown any signs of emerging from the mediocrity of the last 3 1/2 months.

Its hard for me to get too excited about losing games close when the common thread is scoring a run or two on four or five hits virtually every day without the benefit of free runners in extra innings.

I still have hope that the Brewers can make the playoffs and maybe even progress in them. But my expectation is significantly lower.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

People are going to have playoff optimism until it's a mathematical impossibility. That's just how fandom works for many. I don't think anyone out there doesn't see the flaws in this team. Even the most optimistic of us knows it. But having hope certainly isn't a crime.

Well, in fairness the last time the Brewers faced some also rans (Pirates and Reds) it didn’t turn out very well for Milwaukee did it?

At some point the Brewers have to start consistently winning series against good clubs. There isn’t a path to the playoffs this year beating up in the doormats in their division.
