I would ride the hot hand now to see if it will last, but I would wait to see more ABs before declaring someone as great as any hitter the Brewers have ever had against RHP. He doesn’t even have a full season of plate appearances yet, and for much of the time his strikeout rate has made him unuseable.

Yeah, that might be just slightly more reasonable lol.

i get why it’s hard to fit him in the lineup because it’s hard to find a position for him.

at this point hiura deserves to be shoe horned in the lineup.

I'm certainly behind finding ways to get Hiura more ABs. Just not a fan of tying the backing of him with dumping on other players. Still, CC needs to be creative.

lol, typical.

It IS typical. And it's not the sexy move. And to be honest I'd rather see Turang. But what this tells me is that until Peterson or Brosseau make it back you aren't going to see much deviation from Urias-Adames-Wong starting, and Turang isn't going to be brought up to mostly sit. And jokes about liking guys with grit aside, Reyes hasn't done much to incur peoples' wrath when he's been here.

There might be the other ramifications as far as super2, arby clock, etc but I'm oblivious to that stuff.

Reyes is the anti excitement add. I’m not shocked though. He fits the soft hitting AAAA utility thesis tho…

I hope we see Frelick this week still… if not …. I just don’t know what we are doing!

Hiura just takes a beating.   Now he’s the reason why we stink against lefties

i get why it’s hard to fit him in the lineup because it’s hard to find a position for him.    Too bad he couldn’t play shortstop he can just stink it up and bat second all year or if he had a 100 million dollar contract he’d could just slap around grounders and strike out a bunch and bat leadoff all season

at this point hiura deserves to be shoe horned in the lineup.    I don’t care about any of the other players.   They had their chances and were crap all year

THIS, THIS, THIS!

Don't remember who, but someone here predicted Frelick arriving when the team returns from LA. That would be my guess. But they definitely don't make it easy to predict roster moves.

To be fair Hiura has a career .874 OPS in 650 PA vs rightes. Still not a huge pile of data but more than 100AB.

Fair enough, I was just focusing on the ABs against RHP. Still, those 1000 total ABs aren’t enough for me to declare Hiura a greater hitter against RHP than Molitor, Yount, Braun, et al

The analysis of Hiura is complicated because he was very successful (especially against RHP) in 2019, but quite bad against everyone in 2020, 2021, and the first part of 2022.

When making lineup decisions in 2022 the more recent performance is going to get more weight for someone with that short a career. He was given plenty of chances and failed to produce except for a few blips. Now I’m all in favor of giving him another chance to show this isn’t a blip.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I was under the impression that they were expecting Peterson to be back with the Brewers on Friday if his rehab goes OK. With the off day Thursday this move only affects two games.

Yeah, should've just mentioned Peterson as he's obviously back before Brosseau. Sounds like he's close.

Brewers still owe Yelich $200M, AFTER this year.

That's depressing.

It’s also incorrect.

26 million each for 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 is 156 million.

6.5 million buyout for 29 brings it to 162.5 million remaining.

I don’t know if the brewers can win with that contract.   They are going to have to be really lucky with their minor leaguers

Let’s just pay him another 40 million as goodwill
