He was not.  It was an extremely close play at the plate.  The tag came from behind on Yelich.  Which means the ball arrived just about when Yelich was in his slide.  It is a good send as that is a 50-50 chance of being safe or out.

Yelich was almost to 3rd by the time the LFer had the ball ready to throw. It was a terrible send. Period.

There was also one out; there weren't two outs where you take a chance.

Not sure why you're defending this.

Because it wasn’t a bad send.  A bad send is when the catcher is sitting there with the ball and the runner is out by 2-3 steps.  That play the runner was just barely out.  It was a close play at the plate.  If it is close it is always a good send regardless of the outcome.

It wasn't close. Were we watching the same play? The ball beat him by like two+ steps.

"If it's close, it's always a good send"? It's always a good send to have two on, two out vs 3 on and 1 out with your #4 hitter?

Clearly we're not going to agree on this so I'll it go.

I saw the Pirates making error after error against the Phil's. Meanwhile, Chavis picks a 95 mph short hop to save a run or two. Brewers kind of luck I suppose.

Having an easy schedule on paper doesn’t mean squat when you can’t win games against a team that can’t beat anyone else.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Can't afford to be dropping home games with your ace on the mound to the Pittsburgh Pirates and expect to stay in a pennant race.

I am a true Brewer Fanatic

That said … I hate watching & following this 2022 team

I don’t ever remember feeling as much disgust & disappointment with a team as I do this one

Every day - I am anxious & hope they don’t do something stupid

When they win, I feel relief rather than joy

Most days - win or lose - it is unbearable to watch

I can’t wait for this season to end

I hope they make wholesale changes - trade as many players as possible & restock with young talent

I would rather lose for a few years than endure another season like this one

I seldom get angry enough to curse - but all it takes is watching this team play poorly for a few innings

I can’t be the only one who feels this way

The only thing more aggravating than their poor play is the eternal optimists on the board who suggest “hang in there - it’s a long season - we will be fine”

Sometimes it's acceptable to write your thoughts into paragraphs.

I remember seasons that were very similar: 2020 and 2021.  Both were wasted years where the offense wasn’t improved enough for the team to have a realistic chance of making it deep into the postseason. But we had those bites!

How to Manage by Ron Roenicke, with Forward by Craig Counsell

Chapter 2: The Starting Pitcher

The Manager's starting pitcher must not reach, but must also not exceed exactly 100 pitches.  He may struggle, may look spent, but the Manager must stay the course!

Exceptions shall only be made if the pitcher has not allowed a hit and the Manager "feels" the pitcher should be done.  If "the feeling" strikes, the Manager must pull the pitcher immediately without delay!

Nobody seriously expects a pitcher of even Burnes’ caliber to never have blowup innings, I know this.  But doing it in a critical stretch—against the Pirates no less—is a special kind of brutal. A brutal that is coming to define this season,
