He can't hit any pitch that is high not just fastballs.  The whole top of the zone is basically a whiff zone for Hiura.

He's not elite but he's far from a "huge albatross".  If he was our regular DH he'd be a 2.6-3 WAR player and at his salary that isn't horrible.  Just get him out of the field.

Yelich is back to being a negative on offense again. Just so sad for what we're paying him. Hope he feels at least a little guilty when he gets his paychecks.

I feel like he can at least foul pitches off that are up and away and just straight up. Against up and in he just can't touch it. Mikolas located his pitches and dispatched Hiura like he was nothing.

He's underperforming a 7 year contract in year 1 as a 30 year old. It's only going to get worse. These types of contracts you need huge value up front to counteract the fall off that will come with age (basically how Lo Cain managed to perform to his contract because of a huge year 1)

I guess it's the unmet expectations and wasted potential that makes him seem like a bum

He has a wRC+ of 110 which puts him above average.  He is still a good baserunner with 17 SB/2 CS, but he is a massive liability as the LF or any other FIELDER. He is suited for DH which takes away his biggest liability and plays to his strength.  Have him leadoff (he still has the best OBP on the team) and be the DH with Frelick in either CF or LF depending on who is best in CF or RF between Mitchell and Frelick.

His contract is killing us for the poor production he gives us.  It's truly a shame.

Alright, I can’t figure out to directly reply to someone’s post, so I am just going to post this. Yelich signed a nine year contract extension !!!! Nine more years of this crap! He has absolutely no arm for the outfield, so he needs to be just a DH, but he can’t hit! It was a $215M extension, huge small market team killer!! Huge! Huge! Huge! Albatross!
