I like CC putting Varland in against the bottom of the order.

He's going to be really good once he graduates high school.

Assuming Woodruff didn’t have a physical reason to leave, I wonder if removing him that quickly has to do with this being the first of 13 games without an off day. If they don’t want to use 6 starters they can’t afford to have any of the starters go too deep now if they are going to come back in 5 days this early in the season.

So potentially kill your bullpen  vs Cardinals at home go on the road for 10games in 10 days?  Should be the opposite. Push Woodruff through 100 pitches. When we get to Saturday and hear the bullpen is full of dead arms with 4 games to go, remember this moment.

If CC wanted to be really creative, he'd put Devin in for Goldschmidt, Arenado, and Contreras...

Do we have to only pitch Devin in the 9th like we had to with Hader?

Yes. But it also creates the issue that they'd come up again in the ninth. The seventh is a tricky issue...

Maybe we're talking past each other a bit. I hear a lot of talk about how Yelich is a drag on the team or that he's somehow at fault for the Brewers not being better.

The Brewers signed a contract. The player got injured and hasn't been great since. It happens. It sucks, but it happens. It's not anyone's fault, it's just reality.

Extension was signed after the injury in that following offseason and before seeing him play after the injury. Gross deal. Never made sense.

Better than a DP or K.

Yes, but it was still another routine grounder to the right side reminiscent of last year & 2021 … by a player who cares far more about his demise than any of us  … & that’s a lot because I’m over Yelich

There’s always the opportunity to bring in fresh arms from the minors if needed.

Woodruff likely wasn’t going any further than finishing the 6th anyway, so the extra strain on the bullpen is minimal.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

We get it. But like it or not, we're stuck with him and there's nothing we can do to change that.

When the bullpen can potentially use a break in 5 days and Woodruff throws 7 and 1/3 because his arm is fresh... remember this moment.

As far as I understand it, Strez is the only guy in the pen with an option so we are a little limited.

He doesn’t have to play every game or hit at the top of the lineup - so that is something that could change

Can we just not rehash the Yelich contract in a game thread…again? Brewers are winning 3-0 tonight.

Why wouldn't we hit him at the top of the lineup? He's one of the best on-base threats in the game and has speed...

I get that. The shuttle crew. Just not a big fan taking the ball out of Ace #2s hands vs the preseason pick to win the division rival. Each game is worth 2games in the standings difference depending on its outcome. Shouldn't be playing the shuttle crew card this early in to this game.

Forgot how annoying Bill Schroeder’s love for Arenado is. At least we don’t have to hear his praise of Molina any more. He’s a Cardinal, Bill! Evil!
