Williamson has:

A hard hit rate of 50%

An average exit velocity of 90.9mph, with average launch angle of 19.7 degrees

An expected ERA of 7.55

Mostly due to a regularly hanging slider, and meatball four seamers at 91mph

As well as being a rookie... the Brewers HAVE to feast on this guy

…but with his left arm though.

This is an Apple TV+ game so cue the complaining (somewhat rightfully but whatever, this is modern life).

But hey, if you haven't subscribed, there's a free two month trial available that expires today. That will take you through most of the baseball season.

Crap... Contreras and Ruf have to feast on this guy?

At least he gives up a 14.3% walk rate, our hitters can walk fairly well

I actually feel pretty good about this game.  We can't stink against EVERY lefty, can we?  Burnes pitches a gem and the offense puts up 6 or so runs.

Considering how few baserunners they get the Brewers seem to hit into a lot of DPs.

ETA, I just looked it up on Baseball Reference and the Brewers have the second worst GIDP% in MLB. They have hit into DP’s in 13.1% of their DP opportunities. Only the Marlins are worse.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Yeah but have you seen the exit velocity on some of these ground balls.

To hear the Brewers TV announcers tell it, it’s just bad luck.

We really have to win a game like this with our ace facing a bad team with a terrible pitcher going against us.

Red don't really look like a bad team right now

Yeah, kinda weird. Must be an Apple thing to spread out start times but I don't think I've noticed a 4pm start before this point.

Home Opening Day … was 4:11pm - I think

Contact play worked…….Burnes is just walking way too many guys…..and striking out too few

Seems a little odd to have the infield in with a 2 run lead. Says something about whether Counsell expects any more runs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
