This guy can just never stay healthy. Would love for Gasser to get the call, but I suspect it's going to be Rea.

Rea is on the 26-man right now.

Quite disappointing after a big weekend

Everything has to go right for Milwaukee to compete

They’ve had more than their fair share of injuries this season

We need bats … & now another starting pitcher

They are actually competing and a TON has not gone right.  To get multiple bats and a starting pitcher, say good bye to a number of the top prospects.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Bullpen musical chairs starts again,  My guess is Alexander is up tomorrow with our traditional '5 IP starters' going back to back in Teheran and Rea (now).  Then down for Megill or Andrews once Alexander makes his first appearance.

Yes - through 95 games - they’ve competed & kept their head above water in a weak NL Central

To compete in a 162 game season & into the postseason they will need more than Teheran, Rea, & potentially Alexander in their starting rotation

Hopefully, Miley & Woody return soon & are strong down the stretch

I hope we don’t unload several quality prospects to simply “make the playoffs” & get ousted by a superior opponent

I’d prefer to have those young players on future teams - especially after we trade Burnes in the offseason & acquire more assets for the future

I came to the forum hoping to see an acquisition - maybe CJ Cron or another 1B bat - only to discover that Miley was added to the IL … quite the opposite of what I wanted to see

I hope we are looking for controllable SP beyond 2024… pretty much when most of the rotation (Burnes, Woody, Lauer, Houser) is gone. it also gives us legit rotation, especially with Woody coming back in August (hopefully). I have no interest in hoping the backend holds up when we could get quality now.  With Cards and Cubs down, and CC potentially gone, all for pushing it this year. And with govt $ up for grabs with stadium improvements, it makes all the sense in the world to make playoffs in 2023.

Yes, it will cost us, but trading  Burnes and Adames after this season should fill in some cracks across the board, as well, in minors.

Also, we have sticks in Hiura and Black that could or should be given a shot this year. Tiring of half the lineup with .220 avg. .600 or so OPS. Let’s see what we have.

So a lot of moving parts, yes.

I can't see Alexander being called up, just not very good. More likely a bullpen guy.

I'm in the camp of give LHP Robert Gasser an opportunity to play the part of a bullpen or piggyback arm.

35 2/3 IP in the past 2 months as a Sounds starter. 43 K: 5 BB. Opponents are making weak contact for the most part. 3 HR - A HR surrendered every 12 IP and I'd point out two of those were pea shots (one at a 90 EV).

I know a corresponding move will need to be made but I personally think the Brewers need to start addressing Miley's injuries in a 'this may last or when is the next one?' mindset. Best case scenario for Woodruff is August. Pitching is very pricey. We know what we have in our bullpen arms. What if we need a longer in ing role amd what if he's already here?

Looking at this from the bright side, with the IL stay being retroactive and the off days this week and next, Miley will only be out for sure until  the weekend in Atlanta. The Brewers shouldn’t have much trouble covering the 9 games between now and then.

If this is nothing more than a little “discomfort” it might be prudent to give Miley some rest now with the hope that he will be ready for the next longer stretch with no off days and in better shape later in the season.

Realistically, we knew all along that with his age and history he wasn’t likely to make it through a whole season without some time off. I have a hard time even considering this (and his previous IL stint) to be bad luck.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Disappointing, but it's what it is. Fortunately, we're in a position that one arm going down short term doesn't significantly impact run prevention. We had 6 starters, now we drop one and bring up a number of solid relief options. Miley will be back soon along with Woodruff and Wilson pretty soon.

Not soon with Woody or Miley, I’m afraid. And really what will they look like coming back. I’m for trading some quality prospects to get a quality, controlled pitcher that will go along with Peralta and Ashby after 2024. Moreover, I don’t feel like gambling with our SP this season, especially if more SP go down with injury. Let’s get our SP lined up for the next few years with a get this deadline.

Miley is eligible to come off July 29 and I've seen nothing to indicate it would be a longer stint than that. Woodruff is expected to go out on rehab assignment soon and has a fairly realistic timetable of mid August return to the mlb rotation. I would qualify both those situations as pretty soon.

Rea isn't very good either. No internal options are good. The best we can hope for is a guy who can go 5 innings most times, giving up 2-3 runs. That can keep us in games.

Thank God it's not Jason Alexander...

Megill makes you happy? He's wretched. His greatest potential would be if we have a bench-clearing brawl because the dude's a huge human being.

Yes, because the alternative is Alexander. Megill's stuff is at least good. Alexander's stuff sucks.

Megill was also good aside from three appearances.
