Since 2021 Nola has a 3.28 FIP, which is 14th among 85 pitchers with at least 300 IP. He pitch good.

Among those same 85 pitchers, his 4.01 ERA ranks 54th. The 0.73 discrepancy between his FIP and ERA is the largest wrong way difference in the sample.

The Phillies have posted -101 DRS since 2021, 2nd worst in MLB.

I think we all know that defense matters, and is important, but Nola might be the most blatant example how vital it is, even for a really good pitcher.

The Brewers +112 DRS is second best in MLB since 2021.

Over that same time their 0.22 right way difference between their 3.96 FIP and 3.74 ERA is 4th best in MLB, tied with TB and bettered only by HOU, NYY and LAD.

Pretty heady company.

There are a lot of unsolved mysteries on this earth

Why are we here?  How were the pyramids built?   Who thought it was a good idea to put mayonnaise on a burger

the biggest mystery of all time is how the heck are the Angels continually bad at baseball.

With us playing the Phillies and the Reds playing the Giants, every win in this series will gain a game on at least two of our closest competitors while every loss will lose a game on at least two of our closest competitors. Would be nice for the standings to get at least two out of three here!

Going to be a tough series w/o Miley going tomorrow and the continuing issues in the middle of the order. Phillies are red hot.

What's funny is that we actually have an advantage over the Phillies at the top of the order...

Would also be nice if this was the series Tyrone Taylor started to regress to his mean. Because we're at the absolute lowest ebb right now with him.

Winker at 4 has to be some sort of joke at this point. Like it's such a bad idea that it reverts back to the very top of the scale as a perfect idea. Yea, that's it!

Bring Black up, or give Keston his last shot, or.... I don't even know at this point.

Yet here we are in first by 2 games. Logic defies me this year.

If it isn’t still raining there, the first result of the night will be the completion of the Reds-Giants game that was suspended last night.

The Giants will be starting with runners on second and third with one out in the top of the 8th. They had the runners on with nobody out before Conforto made out and the game was called.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The Giants failed to score in the 8th.

With the bases loaded Sims threw 5 pitches to Yastrzemski that were all several inches to a foot or more out of the strike zone, but he swung at 3 that almost hit him in the leg to strike out.

And only two fewer wins than the Dodgers.

The future GOAT gets picked off second with no outs in the bottom of the ninth.

I didn't even realize we are only 2.5 games back of the 2nd seed and bye. Would be absolutely huge if we could end up with the 2nd best record in the NL this year.

Get some pitchers back and find a couple of bats and who knows.

Good take for Ball 1 🤷‍♂️

The third pitch (ball 2) is completely out of the picture.

The Giants prevailed in 10 innings.
