Why would a 1 for 20 stretch make him a buy low candidate? I can't see the Mariners moving a guy with 2.5 years of control when they look to be competitive in the near future.

I feel it’s way tougher to talk constructively with brewers fans than packer, bucks badgers, etc.

Buy low doesn’t mean cheap or for free….just that we may be able to get him a bit cheaper than we would have May 15th for example.  😶

France would be ok but he does have an obp under .700. He was great the previous 2 years, but the Mariners are going to want a 2022 price for a guy who has been Brian Anderson-ish this year.

If the price is like Hendry Mendez and Logan Henderson I think that could be doable but my guess is the M's would want more than that.

I don't think he is buy low as the Mariners don't have a lot of incentive to sell him. They probably still have thought of making the playoffs, with them having high expectations going into the season. If somebody wants France will have to maybe even overpay to pry him away and doubt the Brewers would do that.

The good news: Statcast has him as basically the same player as last year.

The bad news: They also have him as not as good as his stats last year.

He seems like the type of guy who is likely to be about the 20th best first baseman in the league for the next couple of years. An improvement for the Brewers, but possibly not good enough to pay the premium it would take to pry him away from the Mariners.

Why trade prospects for a 1B with an OPS below .700?  They already have one in Tellez.

Tellez had a .886 OPS in March/April and a .830 OPS as recently as June 1st.  He had an awful June - and admitted he was playing hurt with the forearm injury.

A healthy Tellez has showed that he has more upside.

He does have positional flexibility but he really tailed off the second half of last year and obviously hasn't figured it out this year. I'd probably pass.

Pros -- when he's on he hits to all fields. Puts the ball in play. Solid but not splashy defense. Seems like a nice guy, good clubhouse fit.

Cons -- doesn't take walks, possibly the slowest runner in MLB. Has been a bit streaky since his injury last year.

He can't play 2B, that was an emergency. He's done a bit more 3B but I would never slot him as a regular there.

I doubt he's available. If the Brewers want to trade with Seattle, Teoscar Hernandez is probably available but otherwise they are likely going to bring back their core for a 2024 run. They are expected to be aggressive in free agency this winter.

Most of us Brewer fans are Packer, Bucks, and Badger fans too. 😉

20 ABs is a small sample size and won't effect the asking price.
