Final: DSL Guardians Blue 12, DSL Brewers #1 Squad 6

Box Score / Game Log

Though now 20-14, the Brewers Uno club has lost three in a row, allowing exactly 12 runs in each contest.

The Crew was actually up 6-5 heading to the bottom of the 7th. Skipper (and former Crew farmhand) Fidel Pena put his trust in 16-year-old RHP Saul Sanchez (17 next month), and the Nicaragua native was touched for a double and four singles in a four-run Guardians rally.

Considering he'll turn 23 years old in October, 2nd-year RHP Roman Perez needs to tighten up his efforts, as 9-6 became 12-6 under his watch.

Shoutout to recently-turned 19-year-old LF Idalberto Santiesteban, who singled twice and walked twice. At 6'2" and a LH bat, he's cut from central casting in the vitals department. Mix in an outfield assist (and a caught stealing). And if you think I typed his name without utilizing copy-and-paste, you'd be mistaken.

It's been a tough rookie campaign for 17-year-old second baseman Jhon Bencosme, but the Dominican switch-hitter was placed in the leadoff spot, smacked two doubles, and walked. Again, showing faith, nice!

Final: DSL Dodgers Mega 4, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 1, seven innings as scheduled

Box Score / Game Log

Back to Dodger troubles...

Game was tied at 1-1 heading to the final frame, and LAD had been held to one hit through those six innings. 17-year-old Venezuelan rookie RHP Ismael Yanez has made three starts, and his combined line is 6 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1 H, 2 R (0 ER), 1 HBP, 6 BB, 8 K.

RHP Ranwell Smith and LHP Pedro Quintana had a rough go as the late inning game log will attest.

There he is again. SS Demetrio Nadal is plastered all over this box score, quite a feat considering how little was going on otherwise. Two singles, a HBP, three stolen bases, a caught stealing (on a pickoff), not a fan of how box scores notate that - it was one play. How's 79 plate appearances - 1.094 OPS.

Team Dos now 13-21.

The Low-A Mudcats, who have already clinched the series win at home over Kannapolis, send RHP Logan Henderson (2.95 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 12.0 K/9 in 39.2 IP) to the mound to try to make it 5-0. DH/1B Jesus Chirinos is 15-for-31 in 11 games this month with 2 HRs, 3 doubles, 9 RBIs and 12 walks.

Brandon Woodruff makes his first game appearance since April 7th, a rehab start for High-A Wisconsin in Dayton. 1B Ernesto Martinez has hit safely in 20 of his last 21 games, with 6 HRs, 10 walks and an 1.124 OPS in 92 PAs.

21-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski (2.50 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 13.2 K/9 in 50.1 Low-A / High-A IP) makes his AA debut as Biloxi strives to clinch a 4-1 series lead in Montgomery. DH/1B/C Wes Clarke has homered in 2 straight games.

24-year old LHP Robert Gasser (4.02 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 10.9 K/9 in 85 IP$) makes his 17th start (18th appearance) for AAA Nashville, who aims to clinch a series victory at home against Jacksonville. INF Luis Urias has a .915 OPS in 57 PAs since being optioned, while INF Abraham Toro is a ridiculous 15-for-24 with 6 extra-base hits during his 6-game multi-hit streak.

No Quero in the starting lineup tonight after he left last night’s game early. Must be banged up.

I discussed it in last night's GT. Looked to me like he possibly tweaked something on a mighty swing and miss in the 6th or possibly while exiting the batter box during his ground out in the same AB. We likely won't know any time soon, unfortunately.

This Nolasco guy on the mound for the Cannon Ballers in the 4th inning literally looks like Abner Uribe's little brother. The physical looks and mannerisms literally look identical to Uribe

Logan Henderson dealt to the tune of 6 IP | 1 R | 2 H | 2 BB | 6 K while Jace Avina,   Jose Sibrian and Kay-Lan Nicasia have all homered as Carolina leads 8-1 bottom of seven.

Well that Mudcats Box is filled with intrigue. Really nice to see that relief line for talented RHP Jesus Rivero. How about OF Jace Avina going 4-for-5?!?

RHP Robbie Baker has now allowed at least one HR in 8 of his past 11 outings. He allowed another long ball tonight. 3 IP, 1 H, 1 HR, 1 ER, 3 K. A much better outing, all things considered, but he can not keep giving up these long balls and expect to make headway in the system.

Shuckers trail 5-2 late. Chourio is 2-for-4 with his first 3B of his season. OPS is fast approaching 0.800 after months of waffling between 0.690 - 0.740.

I’d really like to know Black, Chourio, and Quero’s stats since they went back to the old balls.

Really wouldn’t be surprised if they were all batting at least .400.

In seriousness, where is Keston tonight?

Checking his game log it looks like they normally give him one day off a week, likely to make sure everybody gets playing time. He is listed with the other bench players in the box.

Or he could covertly be on a flight.

That’s precisely what I came here wondering about after checking milb scores while basking in sweet Brewers victory.

Doesn’t include tonight’s games and is super small sample, but numbers since July 14…

Chourio (34 PA)
500/529/844 (260 wRC+)

Black (34 PA)
429/529/857 (257 wRC+)

Quero (28 PA)
318/464/455 (156 wRC+)

I'm going back and re-watching the end of the 8th and the 9th in Biloxi. It was 5-2 Montgomery and Vennarro hung an absolute meatball 2-2, two out slider (well, it looked like a call for a slider and a slider that just never slid - I could be wrong - but, it was a hanger) that sat for maybe 30 seconds over the heart of the plate 😅. I still can't believe what I witnessed in the 9th.

Here is a batter by batter account of Biloxi’s ten run top of the ninth.

Sparks K, Kahle BB, Black HR, Chourio 1B, Collins 1B, Clarke 2B, Warren BB, Rodriguez ROE, Murray K, Sparks BB, Kahle 2B, Black 1B, Chourio BB, Collins single, Valerio fly out.

Also, kudos to Montgomery! They went with their 'Kimchi' look tonight. Only in Minor League baseball would you get a 'Kimchi' moniker and celebration. AND, I love it. Kimchi is awesome!😅 It's a celebration of Korean culture and food and I am absolutely here for it. Korean food is amazing.
