I don't care the end result you can't have every outing with that guy.  No faith to ever get outs.  He truly lucked out today.  I can't even give Craig kudos on this decision.  Chafin, once again, makes the game closer than it has to be. At least he didn't blow this one, like he does almost every outing.

Why don’t managers just want to win games.    Stop getting cute with 11 games and one inning left

Craig’s got cute 700 times now.

Not having to use Williams is a huge W at this stage.  The fresher we can keep him, the better, because he is going to be absolutely leaned on in the playoffs.  You could argue that there are only a handful of players on the roster who will be as determinative to how far the Brewers go as Devin Williams.  If he can get a night off tonight, it was worth the risk.

Chafin has pitched 15 games and been credited with one loss and one blown save.

The majority of his outings have been inconsequential.

Yeah, just hope he doesn't punch a wall this time...

A lot of drama though. He's a regular William Shakespeare with a slider.

I would much rather have ran Payamps on 11 pitches out for the 9th.  Megill/Uribe/Payamps would be unavailable tomorrow.  We would have been fine with Milner/Elvis/Williams being the 7th/8th/9th tomorrow,  I am glad it worked out but I still don't want to see Chafin force us to have to go to Williams again because he can't hold up.  The guy doesn't belong on a major league roster, period.

His ERA with the Brewers is 8.49 and this WHIP is 1.371.  So he's not doing that great for us, let's be honest.

Because it's a long season, and you can't go to the same 4-5 relievers every game.  Ask the 2018 and 2019 Cubs.

Assuming Rea  goes back down (even if he never actually leaves with Nashville finishing this week).

Who comes up as an added arm in the pen?

I gotta imagine it's Bukauskas

Calm down, it was a four run lead in the 9th.

There is 11 games left.       Pitching the worst guy on the team and maybe one of the worst guys in all of baseball is not a long season move.         The funniest thing is almost every time you do this you end up having to use the guy you don’t want to use anyways.

but I’m not against what you said     In modern baseball you have to use everybody in the pen because you need so many innings    I think the issue is more of why is he in roster than CC using him in a game he could puke up again

Am I the only person who thinks K rod is a brewer legend?

Maybe not a legend, but  I loved that he liked it here so much that he kept coming back.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

You have a lot more faith than I do for a guy, going into tonight's game, that had given up 11 ER with the crew in his 12 Innings pitched.  If we didn't trade for Chafin he would have been long gone.  He's a sunk cost.
