This kind of ignores a lot of important things though.

#1 The 49ers were AWFUL when he would have been drafted. If you assume Rodgers progresses to 80% of himself before 2011 then he has a good 3-4 shots to win a SB.

#2 The 49ers had an advantage in all these years in the fact they never had to back up a dump truck to pay an elite QB. Even without having to pay a QB a ton of money they crated for almost a half decade as a team. By the time their next window rolls around (2019), what effect would a massive QB salary of had on that team?

#3 It also would have erased a lot of high drafting positions along the way too. The 2019 draft was a massive piece of their franchise. That doesn't happen without a revolving door at QB.

This point is also something many people who push the argument that drafting Love was a wasted pick because he sat for a few seasons and the Packers couldn't take advantage of contending with a quarterback on a rookie contract before having to back the Brinks truck up again don't fully account for.  They also choose to omit the fact that the first 2 seasons Love sat, the Packers' quarterback won league MVP (and year 1 there was a solid chance there wouldn't have even been a 2020 football season at the time of the draft due to COVID)...so a developmental qb prospect like Love wasn't the worst idea in the world at the time.

Besides Russel Wilson (3rd round pick, inserted to a team built on running the ball with a historically great defense) and Purdy (Mr Irrelevant, playing with a roster full of HOFers on both sides of the ball who are now all collectively getting long in the tooth/expensive just as the 49ers have to decide whether or not to pay a 7th rounder $50M a season), what other franchise that have found themselves in or winning a Super Bowl have done so with multiple years of a quarterback on his rookie deal?  The Bengals got there early in Burrow's career (#1 overall pick), then instantly had to extend him to a huge contract and have scuffled through the last two years watching him get beat up/injured.  Trevor Lawrence won one playoff game and is now playing on an extended contract.  Mahomes is the exception to every rule right now (like Brady was a generation ago), but he sat a year and the roster he walked into won 10 games the season before with Alex Smith as their qb.  And Mahomes was extended rapidly, too.

More often than not, a top 5 qb winds up on a bad roster to start with, and by the time that team is ready to contend on an annual basis he's already getting a huge extension.  And if that top 5 qb isn't good enough to rapidly turn a franchise around regardless of the rest of their roster, he becomes an NFL journeyman before his rookie deal even ends.

Dumb by indy.  How do you not take it out of the endzone with 201 on the clock and the bears only having 1 timeout.

That was one of the dumbest returns on special teams by the Colts that I've ever seen to take the knee. The field position is way less important than giving the Bears a free timeout. Unreal.

Aside from that, they could have passed for free on 1st down without any consequence to the clock since the clock would have 100% stopped at the end of the play anyway and likely caught the Bears off guard. Instead they predictably ran it. Just terrible coaching on the last two plays

Insane. They could have ensured the Colts got the ball back with 20 seconds and no timeouts just by not taking a knee. They just donated them 40 seconds. I thought it was insane that the Bears didn't onside kick it because the Colts could almost completely run it out and the Colts one upped them on bad in-game decision making.

Fortunately it didn't matter, but that was bad.

So the refs acknowledge that was a pass by calling the illegal touching, but ignoring that would be intentional grounding?  Or since it was caught that means it can't be intentional grounding?  If so that's a rules fail.

If he makes it the whole year.

Thank you, Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay. The odds of having to play in San Francisco in January just ticked down a smidge, and I’m ok with that.

So Justin Fields leaves Chicago for Pittsburgh and immediately flourishes.

Not really.  He looked the same as he was in Chicago.  He is still not all that accurate as a passer and once he starts seeing more pressure he will make the same mistakes he has made his whole career so far.

I think I'm buying in to the theory that the NFL officials favor the Chiefs. These guys get away with murder week after week.

They are the new "greasy" team the last couple years when I tune in. They always seem to come through, and the media and announcers will say it's "good teams find ways to win"...but man they seem to get all the flags at just the right time ANY time I watch them. And they are ALWAYS on national TV because of Mahones and Kelsey. Just too much $ at stake. But man they are hard to watch for me agreed.

Tua with yet another concussion.

Spectrum News interview with Brett Favre said that / Brett Favre has been estimated at having over 1000 mini or major concussions from High school on up to retirement.  Now has been diagnosed with Parkinson's just like Muhammad Ali was.

I can't tell if I should feel sorry for him or marvel at his deliberate placement of a timed distraction.

Unless you think he is lying you should probably do both.

The Jets would only be slightly over the cap if they added Davante Adams today. Not sure where the Packers would be at, but I can't imagine Oakland is going to wait too long to begin the rebuild.

I guess now everybody in Charlotte assumes Bryce Young was the problem all along and it wasn't just a bad team, though I'm sure the Panthers will be back to their losing ways soon. And there aren't any panthers in North Carolina, so why the name? The "Hellbenders" woulda been a way cooler name and they actually exist there (the biggest kind of salamander). Or even the Flying Squirrels. Maybe it's the WI bias, but if you want your team to represent your area, shouldn't the name follow suit and not just be some random thing?

vikings and Packers are apt. The Chicago RoadWorkers? That'd be a good name. Detroit Engines?
