Wow, I just saw the clip of Micah Parsons throwing McCarthy under the bus, and bigly. That's a bunch of crap. Nobody deserves to be disrespected like that.

I would be interested to see if Zach Wilson ever gets another chance somewhere. This really makes you wonder how much of that was him. Whenever I watched him play I thought he would have stretches where he looked pretty good and made some really nice throws. It's hard to imagine any QB being drafted there and succeeding now.

It's not terribly surprising but I wish Rodgers had done something, anything, after leaving GB. Like go to the playoffs once and just show you can still play. I don't think he is really the Jets biggest issue, but it's a bit of bummer to see it play out so meekly. I don't see him wanting to retire but I don't see the Jets wanting him to play again. I don't follow cap dynamics but I assume they all but have to bring him back.

I think some humbling was necessary for the guy... he was in a good situation with the Pack, but refused to work with new WRs.... and that seems to continue.  Not big on schadenfreude, but it is a nice reminder that no matter how good you are, being a team player is still more important.

I'm guessing the Jets would need to wait until post 6/1 to cut him:

Classless. McCarthy already knows he's gone. This is his life and you have your own players...players you've coached since you got into the league, and you throw them under the bus?

The Jets, Cowboys and Bears all have problems with their organization and it's not talent. I think the Jets, it's Rodgers. Saleh was a good coach. The Cowboys it's Jones playing GM and the Bears...they can still fix al their issues, but they need a new offensive minded coach in there. Baffling they didn't replace the staff coming into the season and get and offensive minded coach.

The cap isn't bad. Rodgers costs a lot, but it's less than it would have been in GB.

It's not the Saints. That team is in such bad cap hell, they can't get out. They just keep going further in. Most of their best players have higher dead caps than cap hits.

Good thing they JUST committed more money to a RB approaching 30 years!

Nope. Retiring is the same as being cut as far as cap hits go.

The Jets have about $35.5M in cap space next year.  In that:

  1. Davante is the highest cap hit at $38M but only $8.3M in dead cap if cut
  2. Rodgers is second at $23.5M ($49M dead cap)
  3. Allen Lazard is 5th at $13.2M ($6.5M dead cap)
  4. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor is 9th at $6.8M ($5.7M dead cap)

So you could cut Rodgers and Lazard both (which is probably logical) and you'd still have about $17M of cap space to operate...

Of course then Davante would want to be traded again...

I could be wrong but Adams seems like a natural reunion candidate next year for the Packers. He’s certain to be cut or restructured depending on whether Rodgers is back or not.

I love the Packers’ young receivers but Love could absolutely use a veteran leader and a reliable route runner with good hands. Unfortunately, as good as Wicks could be, he is likely among the worst hands in the NFL.

I could definitely see Adams looking for some familiarity at this point in his career, and a 2 year deal could make sense for both sides.

Allen Lazard 13 million, that's like voluntarily resigning Jeff Suppan for big money after you already know he is nothing but a 5th starter.

I want no part of Adams. Guy seems a bit like Rodgers Jr. And I like both Rodgers and Adams...it's just, let's cut ties to that era. Even though I'm sure you're referring to what is basically a role player.

By next year at least a couple of those WRs should be coming along nicely. I don't disagree with what you're saying as far as a reliable veteran being helpful, but I'd rather just turn the page and get someone a bit younger while you're at it.

The Jets must have moved money to next year with Adams as he was out of GTD money.

I'm pretty sure it does matter if Rodgers retires or not. He's got a 35M option the team has to decide to pick up before the '25th. He has void years and of course, retiring before it's open leaves him open to repaying some of the signing bonus if the team cares to do that, but I don't think they'll even consider moving on from Rodgers.

I suppose there might be some legal ramifications where a team can recoup money.  I was merely stating that the salary cap rules treat it the same.

Even if they're not coming after the signing bonuses, he's got the 35M option payment next year that wouldn't be guaranteed if he retired.

Depends on when he would retire or get cut.  Spotract says it must be exercised prior to the 2025 season.  So what I posted before would've been post that option.

If they were to cut him after the Jets were eliminated (and before the 2025 season starts), His cap hit in 2025 doesn't look much different:

I tend to trust Spotract to have those details managed.

FYI, the Jets have less than $3M in cap space for 2024 if they were to try this.  I suppose Rodgers might be nice and renegotiate to remove the option and then retire later... but I wouldn't hold my breath...

I'm absolutely stunned they fell for that...misinformation!

More surprised Rodgers didn't do his own research...

Jets' kicker is injured.  Jets have a kicker on their practice squad who they elevated last week, but didn't add to the active roster this week.  KC signs Jets' kicker from the practice squad to their active roster.  Jets need another kicker, signing Anders Carlson, their 4th different kicker in 4 weeks.

Bills are going to kick themselves after this one.

Chiefs are ready to be had and they can't generate some distance on the scoreboard.

Yeah, the Bills go up nine in the fourth and the Chiefs run roughshod over Buffalo's defense like they were the Packers defense today. Very predictable. Chiefs are winning this game no doubt about it.

There were a lot of favorable outcomes for GB today. You'd have to think if they beat SF they have essentially clinched a playoff spot. It's hard to see them falling out of the top 7 especially if they win next week.

Finishing in the top 6 would be preferable to avoid a likely trip out to Philly in the first round.

In NFL history has there ever been a team that's gotten more help from the zebras than this year's Chiefs?

Last years Chiefs? :) I know it's hard to watch.

I thought they were cracking down on all the OL leaving early and false starting, and here that one dude does it every play every time I tune in to every one of their prime time matchup games which seems like every week now.

That makes me crazy.
