IMO, its not about teams having a moral highground. We've seen for years teams overlook stuff like this over and over if it helps them win.  The Brewers employed K-Rod for years and almost no one gave a crap.  We just played Aroldis Chapman today, who's been acquired over and over by contending teams.  No one cared or is talking about Marcell Ozuna being on one of the best teams right now and playing great.  Countless examples in all sports, massive double standard going on for him.     So IMO, its all about media scrutiny. This one is on the radar that it becomes headline news and a bunch of BS to deal with for the team, thats why he's being blackballed imo.

Queto would've been a good vet to give a crack, has still been able to have some good stretches as he's aged. Too late now I guess.

Well, that's just great. Please sign someone, Mr. Arnold.

Miley must have slid into a base when no one was looking.

I figured Wade would get about 75 innings in so that leaves about 68 to make up. I have a bad feeling Arnold was planning for closer to 175 though.

Why would Arnold be planning for closer to 175 IP when the last time Miley hit that mark was in 2015?

He's hasn't even topped 160 IP since 2021.

Tough break but he’s never been healthy. The Brewers have had him 3 years in total and cumulatively he’s cracked just 200 innings.

Losing Gutierrez kind of stings now, with the need for arms

Well how many innings do you think he was planning for? 130? That's closer to 175 than the 75 I was thinking... If he was planning for less than that, I don't know what his plan was.

Losing Gutierrez doesn't sting at all.

I really like Miley. I feel sad that his career is in jeopardy and that he has to go through the rehab involved with TJ. I was also really hoping he could throw some innings with the Brewers this season. I like guys that are forced to adjust their career arc by learning how to pitch in new ways.

While this is obviously an unfortunate development for the team, its certainly less impactful than say, the Braves losing Strider, so I don't expect they throw in the towel. They may need to bolster with a trade, but I also feel good about their ability to get creative about getting outs.

Depth is really lacking, they like to go with a 6 man rotation and that is pretty much their entire depth currently with Peralta/Rea/Ross/Myers/Wilson/Gasser. Junis as well pending his injury situation. I guess they also have Blalock in AA but don't think they want to go there. It's still April so will be interesting to see who they acquire either off the street or trade.

Koenig was a starter most of his minor league career.  As recently as 2022 he made 18 starts at AAA and 5 more with Oakland.  He's gone multiple innings in 3 of his 5 appearances.  Could it be he's being groomed to take Wilson's role in the pen and Wilson will settle in a rotation spot at least until Gasser is deemed ready which shouldn't be too long.  But maybe Koenig can be stretched out?

I seriously doubt that. His legal issues are not only well behind him but they also turned out to be nothing.

Wrong:

1 - He still has an open case in Arizona that has a court date in the coming months. So no, it's not "behind him".
2 - "turned out to be nothing" - not true at all.... for a number of reasons but the biggest is probably his response to Lindsey Hill, when she asked him how many times he hit her in the head. Trevor replied that he wasn't sure how many times he hit her in the head.
3 - He showed zero remorse and instead blamed everything on the people he let into his life and played the victim by saying he was bullied when he was younger.
4 - There is also the fact that he suddenly decided he wanted to settle with Hill once it became clear the judge was going to allow the MLB evidence into the Hill case.

Dude should probably be in jail and is an absolute piece of garbage in just about every aspect of his life. Why people continue to promote this guy is beyond me ~ the fact MLB has turned a blind eye to things guys like Chapman did, but won't when it comes to Bauer.... should tell you that there is a hell of a lot more about what he did to these woman that isn't public rather than thinking there is some double standard being applied to Bauer.

Oh and there are also claims circulating on Twitter right now that Rachel Luba - Bauer's agent and maybe his girlfriend... according to Kyle Lohse - is the person behind alt twitter accounts that are harassing one of Bauer's accusers.

Let's keep this on Miley and actual replacements. Regardless of whether you're in favor or violently against, it's clear at this point that teams are staying away from Bauer.

Excellent work shutting that down. Every now and then I wander back over here from Reddit and a quick reminder of why I went there to begin with is nice.

Enjoy the fan and topic policing. I'll be where people are actually talking about baseball, it's really taken off over there the last 2 years.

Until he isn't, Bauer is a possible replacement, just like Grienke, etc..

it's the same 2-3 users banging the Bauer drum every single chance they get. it's exhausting.... I realized today it's better to just mute them as they only do it because they like the attention they get for bringing up the guy.
