I think Frelick needs to go back down once Mitchell is ready.

We won't have any platers left, Frelick, Chourio and who else, Wiemer's hurt.

It's kind of weird how over the last 10 years we've had a parade of guys come through the minors and not a damn one of them is mounted to much as a hitter in the big leagues except Turang and he was not projected as a particularly high level hitter but a plus fielder.

Depends what scouting reports you read.  Out of HS he was thought of as a really good hitter.

Chourio has 113 AB, sixth most in the team. He has been modestly below replacement level, so far.

Bauers, on the other hand, is now modestly above replacement level – thanks to last night’s homerun.

it might be OK to give Jackson a little bit more of a rest.

It's a long season.

It would be nice if one of our guys hit the ground running for more than just a handful of games to start their career and just remain good. Braun-like might be too much to ask for but give us something.

With regards to Frelick, I figured when the season started his floor was fairly high but the ceiling pretty low. I think the floor is down some but the ceiling is really pretty low in my mind due to the complete lack of power. I don't see that coming around and no longer think he's something to build around.

Speaking of disappointing young hitters the Cardinals have just as many as we do. None of their young guys has hit it big yet. Carlson Gorman Walker etc..

Contreas might win a batting title if he doesn't wear down catching every day.

I'm worried about that. Guys can get injured when they wear down.

His frame is too small at this level. He needs to bulk up. He's not hitting hard enough.

If Turang can do it why not Frelick?

We're got four guys producing about the same. It would be nice to see them tick up.

Hoskins .224 .780

Frelick .240 .614

Perk .234 .716

Bauers .203 .672

I have a similar concern with Dylan O’Rae
