I suspect this season might be the last go around for him.

While like most of us he aint what he used to be he really helped us get through some pretty bad seasons.

A montage of some of his appearances.

Feel free to add some of his best calls.

His HOF induction speech is easily the funniest one ever.

Got to listen to him on my way home from the Fox Valley today.  Heard a new story about Tom Murphy and his identical twin brother, as Ueck went on a tangent about almost calling Pat Murphy Tom Murphy.  Truly was a pleasure.

I heard the same story. That was a classic Ueck.

He also went on about how demonstrable umpires are or aren't, and something about the "show call" or whatever they called it. Relayed stories on umps who used to have unique strike calls, strikeout calls.

I'm almost 40. I have never once in my life even remotely considered going to/traveling/looking up flights for a celebrity's public funeral before.

If Uecker has a public service I will absolutely try my best to be there. Growing up as a boy in Wisconsin who loved baseball ... Uecker is one of my favorite people and one of the most important characters in my life's story.

I haven't lived in Wisconsin for 30 years now, but on the rare occasions I have gotten to hear him calling a game over those years, it's amazing how quickly it feels like home. This is probably true for fans of other teams and their radio announcer, too, but few have had the longevity and percentage of the team's existence as Ueck.

I'm only half-joking when I say they should create an AI version of him to keep the thing going...

When the time comes, how many of us will drop what we're doing, pick up some flowers or other piece of memorabilia, and head to the ballpark to pay homage at either of his statues?  😐

You know, it might be the last season of Ueck. He's literally the first baseball announcer I heard.

So maybe get him a ring this season, yeah?

When I first started listening to Brewer games regularly, I remember trying to figure out why that bad actor from Mr. Belvedere was calling their games... 🤦‍♂️🤣

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I hope he can do home games this year and and a couple more yet… If his mind and voice are fine/ok, just get the guy to the stadium and have him do his thing.  And even if it is just 20 games a year, I think the fans would be thrilled, and it would be good for Ueck’s mental side, as well.

When was the last time he's mentioned his "pocket doppler"?😄 Nearly every summer night as a kid in the 90s I'd shoot hoops in our driveway and listen to Ueck call the games on WJMC 96.3 out of Rice Lake through the rolled down windows on our Taurus station wagon.  Whenever there was threatening weather he'd dial up his pocket doppler to see what it said.  As the smart phone/internet age matured I've thought how hilarious this is/was, as literally almost everybody on earth can now pull up the weather radar from their "pocket doppler"/cell phone whenever they like.

I was listening recently when the Crew was playing the White Sox and he was talking about Bill Veeck and then onto when the Pirates were the first team to use helmets.  Some funny moments but just classic Ueck story telling.  Baseball allows someone like Ueck to shine because the pace of the game gives him time to do this thing.  No other sport would allow him to do what he does.  He has been the voice of my childhood to my mid-40's and I will miss him terribly when he is gone.  As long as he feels up to it, I hope he keeps going.
