Didn’t watch but checked the halftime score and saw it was going as expected. Hopefully Ohio State meets the same fate tomorrow.

Let's face the facts, Indiana is not a bad team but they are not a team that should be in a playoff.  They are the poster-child for why 18 team conferences are just stupid.

Indiana's conference schedule in 2024.  Big 10 record in parenthesis

@ UCLA (3-6)

Maryland (1-8)

@ Northwestern (2-7)

Nebraska (3-6)

Washington (4-5)

@ Michigan State (3-6)

Michigan (5-4)

@ Ohio State (7-2)

Purdue (0-9)

And the out of conference schedule was Florida International (4-8), Western Illinois (not even a 1-A school and finished 4-8) and Charlotte (5-7).  Very weak in-conference schedule and then got the extra home game on top of that.  66% of their conference opponents could only win 1/3 conference games or less.

I'm not going to try and talk up Bucky, because they were not a good team, but Wisconsin is at least 7-5 with that schedule and I don't think an 8-4 is out of the question.

Indiana finished ahead of Ohio State in the Big 10 standings this year.

I remember the days where there were 10 teams, 8 games played so everybody missed 1 conference opponent.  We used to talk what a great advantage or disadvantage that 1 miss would be.  But look at the system they have now.  Complete joke, just like everything else that has happened with college football over the last decade.

BYU hung 27 on Colorado yesterday before Colorado put their first points on the board.  Final score 36-14.  Colorado played two teams that were ranked at the time (only one still ranked), and lost both, one at home and the other 36-14.  Yeah, it's a bowl game, but all of Colorado's top players (both of Sanders' kids and Hunter) played the whole game.

I don't hate Colorado or Deion or Deion's kids.  I've seen a number of interviews the last couple of months between Deion and a local sports reporter (who used to be a Denver Broncos cheerleader... she's easy on the eyes) and I can tell that he takes a perspective and tries to impart wisdom well beyond the football field.  I respect him for that.

What I hate is how for two seasons in a row the media has gone gaga over Colorado after they won four games only to find out in both season that they really weren't that good.

I was at my in-laws so I ended up watching that whole game (I wouldn't bother at home).  First game I've seen of Colorados', and they certainly weren't impressive.

Lots of talk about Sanders being a top draft pick, but he looked massively confused out there.  He is going to drop or need a lot of development to be ready to read NFL defenses if that one game is an indicator.  Interestingly, the BYU coach said that they would put out coverages that he hasn't seen in previous games, too.

Hunter looked much better at WR than DB, but pretty meh at both. Granted, a WR needs to have his QB help him to look good too.

Pretty shocking to see two top 10 NFL picks (and one being the Heisman winner) do absolutely nothing out there.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

As much as I want ASU to show that they are a mirage and were propped up by their schedule, watching Texas choke this away is just as satisfying.

If not more.

i don't think so.  His head was up and it appeared that he hit him with his facemask.  Targeting has to be the crown of the helmet.

Ohio st 31- Oregon 0 with 8 and a half minutes left in the second quarter.  Wow Oregon should be ashamed.

Are the dumb-dumb Ohio State fans still volunteering to give the Badgers Ryan Day?

I saw an article on Bleacher Report titled something like, "We Owe Ryan Day an Apology".  The hard core OSU fans are still very bitter -- even if they win a Natty.  You know what?  As a Badger fan, give me the natty.  I can handle the Badgers losing a game to Minnesota if that is the only loss and they end up winning the National Championship.

It’s funny when you think about it, losing to Minnesota is what cost them a National Championship

I'll call it like it is -- Penn State choked.  The QB threw up too many crappy passes.  Two of the interceptions were reversed on penalties (one was iffy).  The last one, which cost them the game, was trash.

Even so, it was a good game to watch.

Idk, beating four top-5 teams in a single season is cool, but the dude still can’t beat Michigan. He probably needs a national title to keep his job.

If there was an option for half-sarc, I’d use it there…

Phillips said the ACC could consider giving its regular-season champion a bye, and have the teams that finish second or third in the league standings play in the ACC championship game.

If they do that, SEC will probably say "hold my beer' and make their conference championship games between the 3rd place teams in each of their divisions while giving the top 4 teams "byes" and then stating they should have 5 teams in a 12 team CFP.

unintended consequences of an expanded playoff, here we come - that and the fact most people have next to no care about who's actually going to win it all anymore, and we're in year 1 of this 12 team expansion.

Case in point, there were no game related posts here for the national title game.  Because who cares.

The news anchor said it best last night.  He was handing off to the sports segment and he said, "With all the other news going on today (president taking office, MLKJ day), I completely forgot that the NCAA football championship was tonight".

I think they diluted the importance of it by having far too many games and then running it into the NFL playoffs.  If they could keep it the first week of January (like the bowl games used to run), I think they'd find more interest.  But as long as they are making $$, it won't change.

I know it is only one year, but it really seems as if the Big10 and SEC really devalued their conference championship games. Boise and ASU needed them to make the playoff, but OSU and ND probably enjoyed the week off. And all four bye teams losing just makes the whole thing seem off.
