Fair point. I wasn't finding his in-game numbers (and I agree their importance over practice).  I just figured I'd share that tidbit about him that I found.

I just want someone at this point that is automatic inside 40. Decent at 40-50 and can make 50 if he had to. This guy doesn’t seem to have history of kicking in cold weather, so that’s his biggest negative. He does seem to have a big leg and can make them inside 40 regularly

Brayden Narveson certainly has the confidence you want in your kicker. Pre-Draft Interview HERE:

Quote

Coach Zauner is one of the most well-respected kicking coaches around. He holds a combine-like event for all of the draft-eligible kickers. I attended and I actually won the competition he holds by making consecutive kicks from 51, 54, 57, and 60.

I’ve definitely seen a big improvement from distance. I’m excited to showcase that at the next level.

Definitely has the leg. Met with the Packers in the Pre-Draft circuit.

Perhaps, most importantly: Narveson has never missed an XP in his career. Ever. 198-for-198. Put it in my veins. I need that automatic. Anything but the Carlson experience and I am golden. I think the Packers may have absolutely gotten an early-career kicking steal. He seems to just be honing his accuracies from distance. Pair this with near automatic from 40 yards and in and I am hopeful for the first time in years.

Entirely unsurprising AJJ and Dubose were claimed. <Sad Face> I'm just grateful Newman was claimed so he can be completely and entirely out of the Packers' reach. 😅

Welch will not be returning to the Packers P/S, btw. He is headed elsewhere. CB Kalen King, CB Robert Rochell, OL Donovan Jennings, and OL Lecitus Smith were all in the P/S area of the Packers locker room this morning but no confirmations as of yet.

To be fair its 20 yards in college and in the NFL its 33. Yes pro kickers should make 33 yarders without issue, I give you.

(I'm just kidding. I simply hope Narveson works out and we have our kicker for the next decade. The potential is absolutely there.)

Hard not to love QB Malik Willis' demeanor already.

If I'm not mistaken (I could be wrong here) but I believe Willis was the combine participant who stopped and helped out a homeless person on the side of the street/sidewalk leading to all the Indianapolis festivities. Just a really really genuinely thoughtful dude. Really hope he pans out.

It would appear you are correct.

According to the Milwaukee paper, Narveson's lone miss during camp was from 58 yards.  Also I believe their is no separate cap for individual PS players, but the money does count under the cap.

I just realized the Packers 19-year streak of at least one UDFA making the roster is over as of today. That's something.

BUMP.

We just claimed Narveson - an UDFA kicker. Is the streak back on? He is the chosen One. Streak is back right?!? RIGHT?!?!

I don't believe so.  I know there was a guy a few years ago on the Packers PS who another team offered to sign to their active roster, so the Packers offered him a raise to league minimum salary and he stayed with the Packers on their PS.

There are minimums they have to pay based on service time, but I don't believe maximums.

They have a little room to move with the veterans with 2+ years on the PS, but it's pretty much a set scale now after the last CBA.

Quote

The previous CBA, which was ratified in 2011, did not specify how much practice squad players would get paid; it only stated a minimum weekly salary. The most recent labor deal signed in 2020, meanwhile, has a more structured approach to practice squad pay.

With the exception of the group iv players and their two-plus accrued seasons, every player who is on the squad (groups i-iii) will earn $12,500 per week this year, a total of $225,000 over the course of the regular season. Players in group iv, meanwhile, can get a bit more than that: they will earn up to $21,300 per week, or $383,400 for the entire season.

Practice squad salaries are paid on a bye week as well. They count against a team’s salary cap.

No, Gute. You shouldn't be patient with specialists. Perform or hit the bricks.

He was overly patient with Carlson last year. The excessive missed extra points and short field goals is frustrating. If Narveson is automatic inside 40 and decent past 40, I’m happy.

I have to think one or two of the remaining practice squad spots go to linebackers. They are pretty thin there.

Glad to see Jennings come back to the practice squad. Moreso than the seventh rounders, he was the guy I was looking at among those who didn't get claimed.

Agreed...but he also at has to have a leg to hit from 55 in a pinch, even if that is only at the end of halves.

No Wilson or Welch on the PS... I'm a bit stunned.  Perhaps they aren't the high upside players, but Welch looked to be improving on D and already above average on ST.  Wilson looked like a Robert Tonyan potential type.

Did Welch sign anywhere? I assumed he wanted an opportunity elsewhere but not seeing anything online about where he is right now. Not surprised on Wilson, they have a TE on there already.

Welch returned to the Ravens. Pretty cool story for him, honestly. Back where he began.

Longtime Coach: Narveson Wants Pressure Kicks - He's Got a Big Leg and Relishes the Big Kicks

Quote

“He knows he’s going to make the field goal,” Narveson’s longtime kicking coach, Adam Tanalski of Hammer Kicking, told Packers On SI on Thursday. “He wants the 59(-yarder). He wants the game-winner. He wants to be that person who’s out there when it matters. Between the ears, he’s pretty outstanding.”

I mean, come onnnnnn now. This young man was meant to don the Packers green and gold:
Quote

It was the perfect landing spot, and not just because the 5-handicap golfer is fired up to play at Whistling Straits next offseason.

“Let me give you a really cool story,’ Tanalski said. “Just know that his wife is from Wisconsin. His kicking coach is a Packer fan. It was meant to be.

Well sure... now. But they just signed everyone.  Just a day ago, they had no one on the PS.

Given how well Wilson played in TC, I assumed he'd be the TE option for the PS. I don't know anything about the guy they have, but I was pretty sure Wilson played well enough to be there.

He looked pretty fluid as a receiver, but we do have Kraft and Musgraves. Feels like we want our #3/4 TEs to be more physical and contribute to STs. Maybe that was a weakness with Wilson. I don't know, I didn't watch that closely...hard to tell when there's no cohesive offense...your doubles or whatever, it's just not the same as working with an offense that plays together.

Rumors about the Packers going after Huntley who was cut by the Browns...possibly cutting Willis(I've mainly seen it from Bukowski who comes up with some FF-type ideas, but this may be decent).
