I think it will be Hall and Hicklen. If Perkins is back up by then. it will be Black instead of Hicklen. It’s not as fun as when you had full access to the 40 man. We are at the point where we can speculate. What say you?

Just guys coming off the IL or optioned due to roster crunch by that point. Don't expect anybody we have not seen before on September 1.

Right. Megill will need a spot, Perkins, Milner, maybe even Yelich, Zastryzny and Paredes

Do you think Paredes will pitch again this year? Didn't they just move him to the 60-day?

It seems as if Enoli has hit...the wall*

*See, that's hilarious, because paredes means "walls" in Spanish.

I could be wrong but I thought Murphy said he’s going out on a rehab assignment later this week.

60 days from Paredes’ last appearance would make him eligible to return on about September 1st or 2nd which would also be a consistent timeline with a 14 day rehab assignment starting later this week.

I think they're really hoping Yelich feels ready to resume around the time the rosters can be expanded. That would be convenient, but anyones' guess as to whether the timeline matches up.

If they felt Hicklin could help, the time to go with him was now, to replace Perkins. I don't feel strongly about the guy one way or the other, but adding him to the 40-man & then calling up Black to replace Perk was very odd.

Really, it's impossible to predict this now. With the IL situation, three catchers, juggling to keep the BP fresh, a number of the candidates might be here before 9-1.

Is Amed Rosario still out there or has he been claimed?

I also don't feel strongly about this, but it's possible they simply preferred a lefty bat vs. the righty bat.

Yeah, and that's what's odd to me. I mentioned the other day that I have no idea what they're going to do, not only facing a LH starter but if they face a lefty reliever late. There are usually one or two PH options from the right side on the bench, but if you tie take the lead forget about strengthening your defense b/c now Bauers or Monasterio or Black or Haase has to go play OF the rest of the game if you hit for Mitchell or Frelick. The whole thing just looks disjointed to me.

Which I suppose is possible, but that would be a bit bizarre considering Perkins was being used as basically a weak side platoon bat since Mitchell was called up.

Elias Diaz was just placed on outright waivers by Colorado. Probably a good bench mark for Haase. If Diaz goes unclaimed, the Brewers wouldn’t risk much DFA’ing Haase to get more roster flexibility in September

He's got 2 weeks yet and if he keeps having outings like his last one it would be virtually guaranteed since he is already getting paid and really at this point the bigger issue is that he has a 40-man spot. Unless something drastic happens I really think Yoho has to wait a year since he isn't on and doesn't need to get added.

Aaron Ashby anyone? *ducks*

Actually really interesting to think about. His velo is basically back to where it was pre-injury and he's looked filthy coming out of the pen his last couple appearances.

Still probably need to see another couple weeks of this at minimum, but he's already on the 40 man and getting paid major league money unlike Yoho or Mis, for example.

I think Haase has been DFA'd and outrighted before. If so I believe he could elect FA if he was outrighted a second time, but I'm a bit fuzzy on those rules.

Right, there is a decent chance Haase wouldn't get claimed but he could go anywhere he wanted. For his sake it might make sense to play for Nashville as he could still be called up again due to injury or September 1 and potentially make his way on the playoff roster.

With the Yelich news I think it's just Perkins + Black on the position side.  Haase safe as well.

Only other realistic option is Hicklen, who is having a wretched August and would have to return to form at a minimum to enter the mix.

Also don't see anything flashy on the pitching side, with Megill, Milner, and Parades all on the IL and Hall in AAA.  Between options, IL stints, and a DFA somewhere they'll probably bounce through all of them at some point in September.  That's a decent boost and doesn't really warrant debuting Yoho or Misiorowski.  Also doubt they would work to find a spot to try starting Patrick or Henderson over Ross/Wilson/Hall if another starter is needed.  If we get locked into a seed, they'll probably just call Rodriguez up to eat some meaningless innings.
