It's nice to see the Cardinals have guys like Mikolas in their starting rotation, next year as well. Hopefully another 3 home run game like the last time the Brewers faced him in St Louis.

While the loss last night doesn't really mean much in the scheme of the season, considering the team's commanding lead in the division, losing like they did, especially against this team and hired-gun Arenado, still sucks. Hopefully they use it as motivation and blow the Cards out of the water today.

Lineups are mostly meaningless in the grand scheme of things but Garrett Mitchell batting cleanup is certainly a new one.

I think what he's doing there, is trying to construct something where Mitchell doesn't have to face a LHP later in the game. Putting him between Contreras & Adames might accomplish that, as well as separating him an extra spot from Turang.

But I agree, it looks strange.

Perkins back is good news. Definitely missed having another righty bat.

I'd always felt he looked better at the plate from the left side, actually. But he swung it well hitting RH before hitting the IL & I hope that continues because yeah, we really need it vs lefties.

Also, Contreras is on fire and he shouldn't be hitting cleanup behind someone who is far inferior.

I think mainly because he is a lefty and Mikolas is righty struggling this year with a 5.41 ERA. Just a guess.

Yea there's been a lot of lineups this year that quick eye test look weird then you dig a bit deeper and you see its all about L/R manipulation in the lineup.  And since the team has so many lefties you see how it can lead to oddities to try and avoid the multiple lefties in a row.

I've always been of the mind put your best lineup out there score 8 runs so the whole late game thing doesn't matter. Way to much inferior hitters hitting too high up concerned about 8th relievers.

As long as he doesn't get pitched around w/Mitchell behind him. That's my concern in a close game, esp if a LHP is warming or already in the game. At least now they can PH as they actually have another OF available.

As you can see you kill yourself worrying about dumb stuff by putting Mitchell in a spot he can't handle.

Brutal AB by Mitchell. Brutal. You can NOT be in a run producing spot in the lineup and watch Strike 3 with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. He has done this REPEATEDLY.

Garrett Mitchell can stop taking strike three any time now. Really would love to see him dropped in the order. I don't like him like some of you do.

Mitchell .232 / Sanchez and Hoskins the same. So they must be brutal also and sit, Adamas not to far behind.

I don't buy that lineup construction doesn't matter.  Having said that, there are two issues.  One is that the LHH on this team are not good.  Second is the insistence that one of the LHH needs to hit lead off as often as possible.
