Forum rule

No one  is allowed to say montas is pitching great until he leaves the game.  😀😀

I promise I won't say that .. Brewers are to the point of having to play .500 baseball to even make the playoffs with 17 games left. The losing must stop now.

Wow ... no. Even if the Brewers finished the year 0-17 (which would be an astronomical collapse), the Cubs would still need to finish 9-7 to pass them. Even if the Brewers tanked and went something like 3-14, the Cubs would need to finish 12-4. Going 9-8 would be enough to seal the division, even if the Cubs win out (also astronomically unlikely).

That is good news but why does my stomach do flip flops starting the 7th inning lately?

The brewers are in ridiculously great shape.      You couldn’t ask for a better spot to be in (other than the bye which we screwed up).     The cubs are just being annoying which aggravates me .   At this point just go away.    I would be pissed if they snuck into that last playoff spot.

The Cubs sneaking into a WC spot is extremely unlikely considering both the Braves and Mets own tiebreakers over them which means they need to be 5 games better then the Braves and 6 games better than the Mets over the final 16 games to secure the WC.

If the Cubs who are 5-5 so far in September finished a scorching hot 12-4 to end the season then the Mets would only need to go 7-9 to finish above them and the Braves 8-8. Those teams also still have 3 games against each other so that’s guaranteed wins for one of those teams.

Basically the likelihood that the Cubs go 12 and 4 and both the Braves and Mets go under .500 the rest of the year is pretty unlikely and definitely not something worth stressing over as much as you clearly are.

Let's score more runs than the Giants tonight. Let's toss last night's debacle in the trash. Let's get some hot bats going for a change. I'm calling toward the baseball gods' quarters: Please, oh please, give us double digit Brewers runs tonight.

The Cubs are 5-5 in September. They needed to continue their scorching August pace into September to have a shot and as expected, they regressed to the mean and could not.

They have 16 games to make up 6 games on the Mets. That's assuming the Braves also suck because they have to catch them, too.

The Cubs are irrelevant. Why do we expend so much time talking about them?

It’s so bizarre. Do all of these people spend this much time worrying about 2-in-1000 outcomes in the real world too? Or just baseball?

It's not like we've suffered any recent late season/postseason heartbreak on account of the Cubs, either. You'd have to go back to the 2007 collapse when the Cubs caught us for the division to find anything worth crying over.

Dodgers PTSD? Well warranted. Cardinals PTSD? Warranted, though much, much less so since La Russa, Pujols, and Molina all left and/or retired. The Cubs? Not very warranted.

It's quite hard to comprehend. They literally had to steal our longtime manager to try to copy our success, and that's failed so far.....

You're saying it's not normal for me to be afraid of driving my car and struck by lightning?

It's the Craig Counsell Factor!!!

And they are other factor in Reducing the magic number.   Why is it so hard for people to understand that.    When the cardinals become the team that directly affects the magic number then they will be followed

thats it.  It’s actually fun at this point to watch a bunch of posters to try to come with ways to state “I care less about the cubs than you”

Once the brewers clinch the. You don’t need to follow the cubs results anymore.    It really isn’t that big of a deal.  Not as much as some seem to care    It’s really part and parcel to following a team to make the playoffs    You root for your team to win and the team directly behind you to lose until it’s over

Yep it’s awesome.    We have really rubbed it in their face.   It’s made this season so enjoyable.   More than a normal playoff race.    Getting in the wild card for them would sour that some.     I’d rather they just go &@$( off sooner than later

and also there isn’t much else to talk about

Some more for the SF SP tonight:

"All I know is something like a bird

Within her sang

All I know she sang a little while

And then flew on

Tell me all that you know

I'll show you snow and rain"
